About this listen

Rowan Donchaad, captain of the Slayer of the Sea, has made killing leviathans not just his career, but also his reason to live. The immense amount of gold he’s accumulated over the years slaying them and selling their parts has made him one of the wealthiest men in all the isles of Manks. But even his love for gold is eclipsed when Rowan confronts a pair of monsters - one from the deep and one from his past - that threaten everything he loves.

Peterson has created a really exciting world here where exciting creatures, intriguing and fun characters, and a beautiful world really propel the story in an awesome direction. I can't wait for the second book!

This was a fantasy story that I enjoyed from beginning to end, it had great characters and story line, The narration by Montgomery Que helped make this story.. I would recommend this to others. I received this audiobook from Story Origin and the author, narrator or rights holder, for my honest review.

Enjoyable Listen

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This was a short but very entertaining story. It is definitely a fantasy story, but has a historic "feel" to it. The author does a great job of painting a vivid picture for the imagination and the author really brings it all to life. It's just under 4 hours, so a bit short, but I think it is well worth a listen.

short but really good

Rowan is a captain of a leviathan ship who is a new father and a widower, lost in his sorrow. I loved the story but the ending drove me crazy.

Good narrator, and story, but was a bit adult for my liking. I prefer cleaner reads.

Not Clean, But Interesting.

I really enjoyed this short story. The characters were fun and relatable, and the story was original and engaging. I’d love to see additional books that continue to build these characters and this story!

I was enjoying this book, up until the point I had to hear the word stagnation 300 times. Which on its own, was incredibly annoying. But if that wasn’t insufferable enough, the characters say “do be” every other word that isn’t stagnation. One of the first thoughts I had when listening to this book was that the author had done an excellent job flaunting their vocabulary. If only it lasted.

The narrator is great. The audiobook has numerous audio glitches. The usual repeated dialogue that so many Audible books seem to suffer from.

Overall, it’s a short and enjoyable fantasy story. If you can suffer through the characters saying stagnation constantly and I mean constantly, then it’s worth a listen.
