Amanda Eyre Ward stormed onto the literary scene with this resounding first novel that commanded immediate acclaim. Critic reviews

“[Ward’s] spare but psychologically rich portraits are utterly convincing.” (Publishers Weekly)

Wonderful in audio

This story is so nuanced and thoughtful, with vivid characters, beautifully voiced by both narrators. The ending is satisfying without having everything wrapped up in a shiny bow.

Sleep did not come fast enough

With a the amazing reviews I was ready to weep feel and for these death row inmates and for the victims. There were no revelations or moments of forgiveness, My book club read this and we all had the same reaction. There are better books out there.
