About this listen

Magazine crafts editor Anastasia Pollack may finally be able to pay off the remaining debt she found herself saddled with when her duplicitous first husband dropped dead in a Las Vegas casino. But as Anastasia has discovered, nothing in her life is ever straightforward. Strings are always attached. Thanks to the success of an unauthorized true crime podcast, a television production company wants to option her life—warts and all—as a reluctant amateur sleuth. Is such exposure worth a clean financial slate? Anastasia isn’t sure, but at the same time, rumors are flying about layoffs at the office. Whether she wants national exposure or not, Anastasia may be forced to sign on the dotted line to keep from standing in the unemployment line. But the dead bodies keep coming, and they’re not in the script.

Audiobook Review

Anastasia receives an offer to depict her criminal escapades after the success of the kids podcast. She s weary of the offer and the further lack of privacy that would occur despite the money that would pay off her deceased husband debts. Things are not what t seems when meeting the agent as they were bot n a position to offer the deal. Next day one of the owner of the business visits her to apologize with flowers and chocolate and re offers her another deal but she declines. As he leaves her house, he is gun down before he reaches his car. This is the start of her involvement despite not wanting to as more bodies pile up. You will be caught up n the story.

Rumors

I enjoyed the thirteenth book as much as the other books in the series. I understood why Anastasia would allow the podcast about her to become a reality show, but I think she made the right decision when she went to the meeting to discuss it. The mystery was well written and twisted like a hank of yarn. I was entertained trying to solve the mystery myself. I liked the character growth between Anatasia and Detective Spader. I appreciated the flashes of humor. I thought Alexandra Bitton-Bailey's narration was lovely, and her performance was entertaining. I was given a copy of the audiobook. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions regarding this audiobook.
