About this listen
This book offers a simple path to understanding and appreciating wine so anyone can feel comfortable approaching a bottle or glass.
Quickly internalize the fundamentals of understanding and communicating about wine. Knowing the four essential characteristics of grape varietals will allow you to understand your options and communicate your preferences.
What’s included in this wine-tasting pocket guide:
- You will discover what wines you prefer.
- You will develop a compass to guide you in exploring wines.
- Your compass will have a clear North and a clear South, serving as your most keen advisor when selecting a bottle or a glass of wine.
- The four reference points I will share with you will provide the framework for your lifelong exploration and enjoyment of wine.
This book is not for the standard wine enthusiast but for the person looking in from afar with curiosity and trepidation, unfamiliar with wine but longing to learn what all the fuss is about.
This book also intends to state that wine is for everyone, and all those who put up lofty barriers are misguided. Wine is not too complicated to understand; there are just many options, and some of us need guidance meandering through the aisles of bottles, labels, and menus so that we can find our perfect refreshment.
If you want to feel confident and comfortable selecting your next glass or bottle of wine, then scroll down and click the “buy now” button. Cheers!

The real stories behind the scenery of America’s national parks. For 12 years, Andrea Lankford lived in the biggest, most impressive national parks in the world, working a job she loved. She chaperoned baby sea turtles on their journey to sea. She pursued bad guys on her galloping patrol horse. She jumped into rescue helicopters bound for the heart of the Grand Canyon. She won arguments with bears. She slept with a few too many rattlesnakes. Hell yeah, it was the best job in the world! Fortunately, Andrea survived it.

The “mountain men” were the hunters and trappers who fiercely strode the Rocky Mountains in the early to mid-1800s. They braved the elements in search of the skins of beavers and other wild animals, to sell or barter for goods. The lifestyle of the mountain men could be harsh, existing as they did among animals, and spending most of their days and nights living and camping out in the great unexplored wilds of the Rockies.

VERY Educational
Carmen does a fantastic job breaking down the basics of wine tasting. I learned so much. I’ve been drinking wine for many years, but I consider myself an amateur. One of the things that I learned is that wine is for everyone.
On several occasions, my wife and I are invited to a large warehouse wine cellar. There, people that store their wines at this warehouse, gather and do wine tasting around a big table. I must say that I feel terribly out of place because of the way that they speak about the wines with such intelligence. But this book has changed my mindset, one of freedom of my unique preferences. This book casts no judgment on my pallet of wine preferences.
In this book, you will learn the four characteristics of grapes. Things like color, bouquet, the ideal temperature of each wine, and lastly, the taste. Carmen breaks down the characteristics of each the characteristics. I found that the ideal temperature is very critical. This book dives into which wines are to be stored at which temperatures. It also talks a lot about aeration. Not all wines require aeration. Some wines require more aeration than others.
And lastly, there’s many times that I’m drinking a wine that I love but I don’t know why I love it. This book helps me to ask myself important questions about what I’m drinking. Questions like, what is the story of this wine? Where am I drinking this wine? Where is the wine from? Take notes of the wines that you’re drinking and learn about your experience.
I absolutely loved listening to this book. Thank you, Carmen for breaking it down for a beginner wine drinker like myself.

Simple and Practical For Beginners in Wine

Educational and Entertaining
Carmen's writing is clear, engaging, and informative! I really appreciate how accessible she keeps her language, that way a new wine student can easily access the ideas. Her passion for wine is so clear in her writing and it made me smile often as I read. This is such a helpful introduction—not just to Spanish wines, but to understanding wines in general!
