About this listen

Learn to communicate effectively while traveling in just 5 hours!

Have you always wanted to learn Spanish but never found the time or the right teacher? Do you want to explore your travel destination on your own but are concerned because you don't know Spanish? Did you study Spanish in school but find yourself unable to construct even simple sentences in Spanish?

This book is for travelers in need of a Spanish beginners or refresher course. Due to our unique method of teaching, you will be amazed at how much Spanish you will learn and retain in just five hours.

What makes this Spanish course special?

Our breakthrough method allows you to retain most if not all of what you learn and immediately put it to use. The key is interactivity: Instead of making you repeat words and sentences, you are encouraged to think and apply what you learn. Using the words and concepts you learn throughout the course, you will build Spanish sentences and translate Spanish sentences into English right from the start. The course also makes use of the many similarities between English and Spanish, so you can associate new Spanish words with English words you already know.

You'll learn relevant words and sentences that you can put to use immediately. This will allow you to reinforce what you've learned through real life practice and motivate you to complete the course.

This course only takes about five hours to complete. Many people buy expensive Spanish courses and never find the time to complete the course. But you should be able to find five hours. Even if you only study for half an hour each day, you'll be done in a little more than a week!

Learning should be fun and rewarding. It is hard to describe the pleasure you experience when you manage to construct complete sentences in Spanish after just half an hour into the course. In addition, the course is peppered with quotes and anecdotes, keeping the learning fun and exciting!

Any additional comments?

The interactive lessons really captured my attention and the narrator vastly helped my language skills by teaching me the communication basics and giving me the 'tricks' of the language.I have just one request - please write language courses for French and Italian as well. I would love to be able to learn those languages in this same method.

Simple and easy to learn! Great Method!

Would you consider the audio edition of Spanish for the Busy Traveler to be better than the print version?

This had a lot of relevant works and good hints for helping you to remember cognates. Much better than most language training texts that rely solely on rote memory.

Very useful

I couldn’t wait to I finished to leave the review. I’m right in the middle and this is so fun! The explanations are so helpful as all of my high school textbook Spanish instruction is starting to make sense…20 years later! Grateful I came across this and can’t wait to listen to the Teachers edition! Yay!

Fun fun fun!

I actually bought this book more than a year ago and just never got around to actually listen to it. I just decided to pick it up again because I really do want to know Spanish. I found myself subconsciously uttering all the Spanish words when prompted to translate English words. while this book is not the comprehensive Spanish learning guide, it doesn't profess to be. I walked away from this book being conversational in Spanish. I'm actually looking forward to listening to it again to perfect my gained knowledge.

Wow! This really works!

Would you listen to Spanish for the Busy Traveler again? Why?

In genera, this book is a good reference for those traveling to a Spanish speaking countries. Also for those studying Spanish may found it useful. Still there were three things that I didn't like about this audio:

1- The narrator's voice was loud and kind of sharp.

2- It focuses on Latin Spanish without any mentioning of Spain Spanish.

3- Some times, it waste the time by associating some vocabulary words with an English words or some other thins, which I found unnecessary.

Overall, I cant say I didn't benefited from spending money and time on this audio, as a mater of fact I highly recommend listening to as much as you can on these audios in order to enhance your Spanish.

Good for travelers

Any additional comments?

I spent a week in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico and this book along with Power Spanish was really helpful. I recommend this book by itself if you are short on time and need the basics fast for traveling to a Spanish Speaking country. I regret that I did not get this audible sooner in my journey. After mastering this audible book, I recommend wlingua and/or babbel language programs as well as the Power Spanish audible books.

Don't be too busy to get this book

I bought this book for my husband prior to a trip to the Caribbean. He literally learned 50 words within the first 10 minutes. In another 10 minutes he knew and remembered 50 more.

Here's a hint: words ending in -tion in English end in -cion in Spanish. So communication becomes communicacion.
To get the verb communicate, take off the -cion and add an r: communicar. Rinse and repeat for every -tion word you know. That's just the first 10 minutes. By the time my husband finished, he knew thousands of words and was speaking in whole sentences, only 5 hours of book later (with many repeat listens).

The author uses a variety of memory aids to make learning Spanish fun and easy. The book concentrates on words and phrases that are most likely to be needed on every day life and travel.

I'm looking for other language audiobooks by this author.

Magnifico!

What disappointed you about Spanish for the Busy Traveler?

Full of holes. At the end of the program you are able to count from 0 to 12 except 11. Why no 11? No clue. You also won't know how to say "us", "him" , "her", "they", etc.
I don't expect something extremely thorough in 5 hours, but these are quite basic things missing. Wouldn't call it a waste of time, but not useful either.

Has Spanish for the Busy Traveler turned you off from other books in this genre?

Yes, will not buy other books from this company.

Which character – as performed by Hadassah Davids – was your favorite?

N/A

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
