About this listen
You might have heard of me. I’m Amethyst King, the 26-year-old who wrote that viral article about drinking celery juice for 30 days. Sure, I’m a little embarrassed that everyone knows about the inner workings of my digestive tract for the last month, but I’m one step closer to getting a promotion and finally pleasing my incredibly opinionated, high status parents.
But my next assignment is a little different: speaking my truth for 30 days. Now I have to say exactly what’s on my mind, all the time. Maybe that wouldn’t be so hard if I didn’t dream of quitting my job and pursuing a career in calligraphy. Or if I weren’t hopelessly in love with my long time friend, free-spirited musician Lucas: the exact opposite of who my parents expect me to be with. The same Lucas I rejected after high school graduation, who just moved back home.
I got this! I can somehow manage thirty days of speaking my truth and getting a promotion, all without ruining my friendship with Lucas or my relationship with my family.
Right?

Lana Fleming’s sister has vanished from the set of TV’s hottest show, and no one seems to care. Desperate for answers, Lana sneaks in as an extra, only to get stranded with Griffin Hart, an A-list action star with a reputation for good abs and bad decisions. Though Griffin didn’t expect to be cast as a librarian’s sidekick in a real-life thriller, he’s weirdly into it—and into her. Even more unsettling—she sees right through his playboy persona. But their meet-cute soon turns deadly when they uncover a Hollywood scandal for the ages.

Ryder, Garrett, Kenzo, and Diesel - The Vipers. Their deals are as sordid as their business, and their reputation is enough to bring a grown man to his knees, forcing him to beg for mercy. They are not people you mess with, yet my dad did. The old man ran up a debt with them and then sold me to cover his losses. Yes, sold me. They own me now. I’m theirs in every sense of the word. Such a great story!
Oh biscuits! Speak Your Truth was a phenomenal book! I really enjoyed this story. The narrator did an excellent job of bringing the characters to life. I loved all the different voices and accents she used. Speak Your Truth was more than a love story. It was a story of Amy’s journey of finding courage to speak her truth and accepting herself. Amy has lived her life feeling like she isn’t enough and trying to please her demanding parents. She yearns for their acceptance and live up their expectations. When Amy’s boss gives her an article assignment to speak her truth for 30 days, Amy grows and gains courage to be herself. Lucas was the sweetest! He loved Amy for who she was. She was more than enough for him. The romance is clean with only kissing. This book was awesome and highly recommend!

Short and sweet second chance
I received this audiobook for free, but this opinion is all my own. Speak Your Truth is a second-chance rom-com that is easy to listen to while working or doing something else. Aricka Parent did a fantastic job narrating and bringing each character to life with consistent accents that fit each character's personality. I always worry about female narrators since they usually make the female characters' voices too high-pitched for my liking, but Aricka did an excellent job of keeping each tone level.
As for the story, it was easy to follow as I cleaned, and it was not cringe like some second-chance stories can be. Marie wrote the story beautifully, so I felt I was right there with the characters. While each part where Amy had to speak the truth made me nervous, Marie used the interaction to strengthen her bond with each individual, and the situation's awkwardness did not draw out like other books. I also appreciated that Maire didn't make the relationship between Amy and Lucas one of hate or revenge when they first meet after 8 years. They approached their situation like adults, and it made the ending fit better than if either one had been holding a grudge. I also appreciate that Marie made this a clean romance. There are some kissing scenes, but nothing that triggers me not to let my preteen daughter read. I also like that Marie mentions how the characters are not sleeping together while dating, an example that should be discussed in more books.

Sweet second chance
First, I loved the narrator. For me, they can make or break a story and this one did a fantastic job!
Ok, on to the story. I loved this one so much I read it twice (once on Kindle and once on audio). It makes you really think about telling your own truth and how often we don’t speak up for fear of hurting others even though we are hurting ourselves. I love a good second chance story and this one was perfect. Well written, great characters, sweet love story.

A sweet, fun romcom with depth!
I loved this audio book! Thank you for writing a fun, sweet rom com with depth. I loved the way this book really made me think about my own truths and how I can be better at speaking them. Speak your truth is not just a sweet love story but a great story about integrity and being true to yourself. Great job and thank you for writing a fun, clever clean romance.

Wonderful Second Chance Romance!
Speak Your Truth was such a fun audio book to listen to! It is a clean romance read and told from the female main character’s point of view. I adore second chance romances and this one had all the swoony vibes that I love in these stories. The narration was wonderfully read and added to my enjoyment of the novel.
Amy was living her life in a way that she hoped would some day make her parents proud. Her parents were awful and such snobs. It was hard to listen as Amy would choose them over the people and life that she wanted, hoping to gain their favor.
I loved seeing Lucas and Amy reconnect. These two were definitely each other’s true loves. There was a lot for them to overcome in order to find their happily ever after and it all hung on whether Amy could stand up for herself and choose her truth and happiness.
There were so many sweet and funny moments in this story! I truly adored this reunion romance.

Loved it!
I loved this sweet romance. I loved how it made me think about the times when I haven’t spoken my truth or when I have had to deal with the crushing expectations of others that I wish would have been more supportive and accepting of me. It was a great thought experiment for me in thinking about how my life would be different if I was more honest with others about how I think and feel (in a respectful and kind way). I also thought the romantic scenes were tender, although maybe a bit mushy at times for my tastes. If you’re looking for a sweet romance novel that also makes you think about your life a little differently, this one will be a good one for you.
*Note: I listened to the audiobook and I really enjoyed the reader. She did a great job giving feeling to the words and storyline.

Oh my buttered biscuits!
This story was so good! The struggle with telling your parents you aren’t happy with them and trying to decide if you should cut them off. The struggle of telling your crush you are actually in love with them. The sweet tender kisses it was all so good! The narrator did such a good job making the characters come to life! Overall just give it a listen!
