Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Would definitely not say this was time well spent. Storyline was abysmal. The end was unbelievable. Pretty much all of the story was a tad far fetched.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Have no idea - but it won't be a McDermid novel.

What three words best describe Saul Reichlin’s performance?

Inconsistent, lazy, unbelievable.

Was Splinter the Silence worth the listening time?

No

Any additional comments?

Disappointing

The main problem with this audiobook is that Stacey Chen has been given a Fu Manchu accent despite her accent having been described as "strong London." Makers of audiobooks should check all books in a series to get things correct rather than relying on bad, out-dated racial stereotypes.

An interesting story ruined by a racist narrator.

Loved it! My first audible book thanks to my son. Now I have to choose the next one.

First audible book.

I really don’t like the narrator. His attempt at an Asian accent is ridiculous. The story needed better editing. It’s long and meandering and certainly not what I’d expect from this author.

Not as good as usual

What disappointed you about Splinter the Silence?

Come on Val this story was so predictable you knew her heroes were going to be best friends again. I fell out of love with Carol one of her main characters she has turned into a whinging Pom.

What could Val McDermid have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

I New from the start the boyfriend of Stacy the computer genius was no good. Too easy to spot.

Would you be willing to try another one of Saul Reichlin’s performances?

Did not mind Saul it was easy to spot the different character voices.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Splinter the Silence?

It does not need any thing cut out of it needs more more body put into it' excuse the pun.

Any additional comments?
