About this listen

There is a road in Derbyshire England, which intersects a mysterious path that appears for a time, then vanishes without warning. It links the twenty-first century to Regency England. Jonathan Thomas, a twenty-first century piano tuner and unpublished composer, is about to unknowingly enter that intersection. As he walks from his disabled car, Jonathan carries his toolbox, and in it a musical composition he had hoped to sell in town. An elaborate, monolithic mansion that he never noticed during his frequent trips to town looms beyond a stand of Italian pines. He treks there seeking help, and meets a young woman, beautifully dressed in Regency clothing, who happens to need a piano tuner. She introduces herself with a curtsy, as Georgiana Darcy, a name he recognizes from the novel, Pride and Prejudice. She is impressed by his treatment of her pianoforte, lovingly, as if it were a precious life. She inquires about the composition, and with a smile, and loving gaze into her eyes, he refers to it as his soul. They play it as a duet. The music allows her to look deep into his heart and she falls in love. He gives her the music, his soul. While she makes him a cup of tea, he is unceremoniously sent back to the twenty first century since the intersection has disappeared. The pair suffer from a love separated by two hundred years. Her brother, Fitzwilliam Darcy, has traveled through the intersection many times. There in the future he discovered Pride and Prejudice, and for everyone’s sake he keeps the truth of their existence a secret. He brings Jonathan and Georgiana back together, and after months of tedious, sometimes amusing assimilation, they are engaged. Shortly afterwards, she convinces him to show her his world. While there, he is injured in an accident and trapped, and she is sent back by the intersection. There is only one person who can solve this problem. So begins the search for Jane Austen. The story continues with "There's Something About Mary Bennet" Part two of the Jonathan Thomas and Georgiana Darcy Chronicles. Good dark fun that brings you to the edge of the cliff.
