About this listen

Earth has fallen. Its nations, enslaved.

When humanity’s conquerors crushed the planet’s defenses, all hope seemed lost. But what if someone gave you a starship—fully armed—and the chance to strike back?

Kory Drake, a homeless survivor on the streets of an occupied Earth, never imagined becoming a fighter. After a daring rescue of his street sister and a brutal showdown with alien Kergan soldiers, Kory catches the eye of a mysterious alien military adviser. The offer? A powerful starship, Thunder, along with the training to lead a crew and fight back against humanity’s enemies.

Kory accepts, drawn by the promise of food, shelter, and something more—a shot at revenge. But command comes with heavy responsibilities, and leading a rebellion in the depths of space could mean life or death, for both Kory and his crew.

Has he bitten off more than he can chew, or is he about to discover a strength within himself he never knew existed?

Starship Thunder is a gripping first installment in a thrilling new sci-fi series. If you crave intense space battles, alien intrigue, and the rise of an unlikely hero, Joseph McRae Palmer’s adventure is one you won’t want to miss.

I really enjoyed the story and hope it will be continued in subsequent books. Hopefully it won’t take too long.

Started out a bit slow, but ended up being pretty good.

The virtual voice did a terrible job pronouncing “flechette”. Other than that the story is pretty good.

Fairly typical virtual voice rendering

The AI has okay enunciation, but it is emotionless and doesn't fit scene. I often couldn't distinguish if the writing lacked luster or it was the narration. I won't get the next book in the series.

The story kept me hanging on, but the AI narrator made me want to quit.

A winner with a unique plot that was well thought out. I loved the story and the turns and twist the story had. If you're a SiFi fan try this book out and see what you think. I thought virtual voice automation was good. What's your thoughts on the book and virtual voice narration?

This was a surprisingly good read. I took a chance on it despite few reviews. After a few chapters, as I got the lay of the dystopian land, the characters grew on me, the story was engaging and I got pretty attached to their survival. Honestly, I did not expect to enjoy this book so much. Looking forward to the next installment of this adventure.
(Even putting up with Virtual Voice narration was worth it!)

Happily surprised! Excellent!

why does the protagonist have a "street sister"? if a homeless young man and woman bonded over survival, i think they would likely have a monogamous relationship.

pretty cool alien, and tech.
