About this listen
With massive debt, a communist mother-in-law, a Shakespeare-quoting parrot, and a photojournalist boyfriend who may or may not be a spy, crafts editor Anastasia Pollack already juggles too much in her life. So she’s not thrilled when her magazine volunteers her to present workshops and judge a needlework contest at the inaugural conference of the New Jersey chapter of the Stitch and Bake Society, a national organization of retired professional women. At least her best friend and cooking editor Cloris McWerther has also been roped into similar duties for the culinary side of the 3-day event taking place on the grounds of the exclusive Beckwith Chateau Country Club.
The sweet little old ladies Anastasia is expecting to meet are definitely old, and some of them are little, but all are anything but sweet. She’s stepped into a vipers’ den that starts with bribery and ends with murder. When an ice storm forces Anastasia and Cloris to spend the night at the Chateau, Anastasia discovers evidence of insurance scams, medical fraud, an opioid ring, long-buried family secrets, and a bevy of suspects. Can she piece together the various clues before she becomes the killer’s next target?

I listened to this book and thoroughly enjoyed the story all over again. I liked that Lucille was just a mention and she's off doing other things. This gives the family a break even though the story centers on Cloris, Anastasia, and the horrid people at the convention.
I liked the local detective, Detective Spader & Zach offering advice.
The narrator, Alexandra Bitton-Bailey, did a wonderful job which only enhanced my enjoyment. Bravo!
I recommend this book whether you read or listen to it. The series has kept me entertained over the years.
My first review of the book.

Crafts editor Anastasia Pollack and her best friend and cooking editor Cloris McWerther are tapped to give three one hour lectures and three hands on presentations each to a secluded group of convention goers.
Both find the short notice a little questionable but off they go. This group is scary and evil.
A death occurs and they are off to solve it. There are plenty of twists and turns. Pretty sad when you discover the why and who is involved.
I found the crafting tips at the end of the book helpful for anyone that cross stiches or would like to learn to cross stitch.

What was supposed to be a last minute conference turns into nightmare as things turn deadly. Trouble never cease to follow Anastacia as she battles with elderly women who do not like to lose as a killer is on the loose. Action packed antics that never fail to disappoint. A light hearted murder where everyone is a suspect.
