Publisher's summary

Nineteen-year-old Martin Keller is about to fight in the jungle hell of Guadalcanal. Although eager to fight after the sneak attack on Pearl Harbor, the young Private, along with the majority of his platoon, are inexperienced. This battle will be their first in the long war against the Japanese. Follow Keller through the terror that is combat. Through nail biting suspense, Keller will learn that the jungle is just as formidable a foe as the Japanese, but perhaps his greatest enemy is his own fears.

Knowing that this is the author's first time out, I have to say I really enjoyed the story. He's really done his homework on the history of the battle at Guadalcanal. It was fast-paced and exciting. He's going to be an excellent writer if he keeps this up.
The sound effects and the narration where were fun and added to the excitement. The author voice of several of the characters were well done, though I would say to him to be a little more animated during the strictly narrative parts of the story. Overall, as a veteran audiobook listener I was very impressed!
