In Made in America, Bryson de-mythologizes his native land, explaining how a dusty hamlet with neither woods nor holly became Hollywood, how the Wild West wasn't won, why Americans say 'lootenant' and 'Toosday', how Americans were eating junk food long before the word itself was cooked up, as well as exposing the true origins of the G-string, the original $64,000 question, and Dr Kellogg of cornflakes fame.

Story
The real stories behind the scenery of America’s national parks. For 12 years, Andrea Lankford lived in the biggest, most impressive national parks in the world, working a job she loved. She chaperoned baby sea turtles on their journey to sea. She pursued bad guys on her galloping patrol horse. She jumped into rescue helicopters bound for the heart of the Grand Canyon. She won arguments with bears. She slept with a few too many rattlesnakes. Hell yeah, it was the best job in the world! Fortunately, Andrea survived it.

Story
The “mountain men” were the hunters and trappers who fiercely strode the Rocky Mountains in the early to mid-1800s. They braved the elements in search of the skins of beavers and other wild animals, to sell or barter for goods. The lifestyle of the mountain men could be harsh, existing as they did among animals, and spending most of their days and nights living and camping out in the great unexplored wilds of the Rockies.

Story
People disappear every single day, but there are a few cases that simply defy explanation. There are those who have walked into forests and never come out. There are people who have disappeared from secure compounds with no explanation, and even individuals who seem to have vanished into thin air right in front of security cameras.

Story
Inhumanoids are creatures or entities that have some type of human characteristic but are not human at all. Even though they sometimes appear as 'less than human,' they are quite beyond the normal sense of the word and possess a troubling array of supernatural powers to prove the point. Some are true 'bi-forms;' curious anthropomorphic mixtures of human and animals, while others manifest themselves in guises that one might pass by on the street and never give a second glance. From the smallest fairy to the tallest giant and every form in between, these inhumanoid beings, in all their myriad...

Collection of Eerie Disappearances in the National
This is a collection of people who went missing in national parks. The locations and a brief bio of the person is given along with the efforts to find them. A few remains were found in some cases, but how they died and what happened to them is still a mystery. Very interesting. Audiobook uses virtual voice.

Good enough
Good enough book probably could use a little more detail to the stories but otherwise interesting. Just good enough and short

Great stories acceptable voice
I’d rather have a real narrator but these stories are so calming that I can accept the computer voice. It’s not that bad. I’m able to sleep with it.

Very boring
This book was very boring and it was read by AI and it was just very monotone and robotic so I did not enjoy the listening experience

My first encounter with virtual voice
This was my first audible book with virtual voice and I must admit it wasn’t that bad, it was much better than I expected.
The book looks into missing cases where adults and children go missing on hikes.
With more research into each case we as readers/ listeners would have gotten a more interesting and in depth experience. Here we learn about a lot of cases but it is very superficial. I have preferred more information and less cases.

This was FOR SURE written by AI
I picked this title because I was interested in the topic (obviously). It’s basically a really, really long buzzfeed article where each chapter is a minute or two long.
It’s 3 books together, which would be great, except it’s so freaking repetitive!
The last book was the worst. Endured, shrouded, enigma, baffling, relentless… how many times can these be said?!?! ALL ARE MYSTERIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES! ALL ARE UNSOLVED! This book could have been literally half the length. There are 100+ chapters and every chapter has these phrases. It’s infuriating.
Also, at one point he says a woman went missing in Florida wearing “a shirt, shorts, and sandals” NO SHIT - really? 🙄
I am 100% sure this book was written by AI.

wording seems like AI
The wording of this book gets very repetitive, especially in the later chapters. the way it's worded makes me wonder if it was written by AI. The chapters on paranormal stuff have nothing to do with disappearances. they somehow make ghost stories seem boring.
