About this listen
After matching online, two strangers—played by Heléne Yorke (The Other Two) and Michael Zegen (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel)—meet in real life. The vibe is off, and the conversation is a mess. Yet something is keeping them in their seats. What begins as a typical date off the apps spirals into something unexpected.
From Succession writer Miriam Battye and director Katie Posner comes the show that sold out theaters in London, took the Edinburgh Fringe by storm, and made its New York City debut Off-Broadway at Audible’s Minetta Lane Theatre. Strategic Love Play is an award-winning, razor-sharp “comedic tour de force” (The Guardian) that The Evening Standard calls “as gripping as a friend’s rapid-fire texts from a disastrous first date.”
Available in Dolby Atmos on Audible.

Story
Humpback whales are among the most intelligent animals on Earth. Some scientists believe they might even surpass humans in self-awareness, empathy, and communication skills. In this episode, we swim with a whale as he teams up with other humpbacks to use bubbles to catch fish, rescues a sea lion, and puts his own spin on melodies sung by whales across the Pacific Ocean. This is the world in its natural state, defined by seasons, routines, and cycles. By the time this whale is ready to close one eye and go to sleep, you will be too.

In the six lectures of The Great Gatsby at 100, you will join Sheila Liming of Champlain College to revisit the context and culture of the Roaring ‘20s, which inspired the story of the mysterious Jay Gatsby and his disastrous pursuit of Daisy Buchanan. As a young boy growing up on the outskirts of Dublin, the stage and screen legend sought refuge in a world of imagination among the fields and hills near his home, at the edge of a rapidly encroaching city. Moving between sensual recollection of childhood in a now almost vanished Ireland and commentary on stardom, the actor-writer returned to Broadway and Audible to reflect on a life’s journey.

Loved the ridiculous banter betwen virtual strangers that ultimately brought them to a relationship. Both people unload baggage in such a matter of fact, sometimes mean, but absolutely profound way. Loved this story! It was the perfect companion to drive home from work with.

Hated It
Maybe some people would like this, but I hated it. It was supposed to be a comedy. It wasn’t funny in the least. I do not want to spend my time listening to two people arguing for an hour. There was also a lot of cursing that maybe was supposed to add realism but I just found it gratuitous. Performances were okay but the material left me cold.

What did I just listen to?
If you want to listen to two people pretend to have a bad date, here’s your chance. The fake laughs are supposed to sound fake because it’s awkward, but it’s also hard to listen to. And I have no idea what the ending was about, at all.
