About this listen

Jack and Kelsey are together now, their issues resolved. Kelsey has survived her horrific attack, and Jack and Kelsey together have achieved, if not justice, at least retribution against her vile attacker. Filming has begun on Kelsey’s movie, Power Through, and they’re living together in a permanent state of hot and steamy bliss. Life is about as good as it can get, right? But everyone knows that when things are going well, you need to be careful not to glow too bright with your happiness, because it makes you too visible, too vulnerable. The more vividly you shine, the more spectacularly things are likely to go wrong. Jack has a year left of school, and it’s the hardest year of all. Jack and Kelsey have to endure long hours of time apart, time that they don’t want to spend away from each other, him in class, her on the set. Jack is now semi-famous himself, and there are three girls in particular who are very interested in him. That can’t be good. In addition, Marian Lowell, the Olympian that Kelsey’s movie is about, is around all the time, and she has so much in common with Jack also; she’s a swimmer, and she’s a law student also, why wouldn’t Jack be interested in her? Kelsey has an admirer of her own, an friend from her modeling days who’s only too willing to be there for her and help her into his bed and back into some old habits. Drugs, an old problem of Kelsey’s from long before she knew Jack, rears its ugly head once more, threatening the fragile sobriety she’s managed to establish and hold on to these last few years. With these obstacles in their way, is it any surprise that all the sexy fun in the world might not be enough to keep this couple together? Kelsey does her best not to be a jealous girlfriend, and Jack does his best not to give her reasons to be, but it can be hard. Can they make it through this difficult, turbulent and trouble filled time and come out of it as a couple?

Meet the Characters

Jack LaGuardia RESIDENT SWIM HUNK He’s a naive ranked college swimmer with a body to die for, and none of the usual jock baggage, but his inexperience gets in the way when a steamy romance is dropped into the middle of his life with a splash. Kelsey Carlisle BITCHY SUPERMODEL If you looked in the dictionary for the definition of petulant beauty queen, you would find a picture of Kelsey. She’s gorgeous and used to getting her own way, always. Won’t she be surprised when she hires Jack to teach her to swim for a part in a movie and she finds out that not everyone is affected by her pretty face. Marian Lowell The quintessential Olympic champion, Marian comes to the City of Angels to watch them make a movie about her life. She likes Kelsey a little, but she likes Jack a lot, and this could be trouble for our happy couple. Mimi Kakutani Kelsey’s best friend, who sees everything, and is usually on hand with a tissue or ice cream, to help Kelsey through the ups and downs of her life. She almost always knows the right thing to do, too, not that Kelsey listens to her. Zach Hall A giant, redheaded bear of a guy with a beard to match, he is a teammate of Jack’s, an experienced swimmer who’s full of sage advice on life. Some of it is good, and some of it is really, really bad.

What Readers Are Saying

“This definitely has a more angsty feel than the first, because instead of watching Kelsey and Jack fall in love, we get to see them struggle to stay in it.”
