When Emira is apprehended at a supermarket for ‘kidnapping’ the white child she’s actually babysitting, it sets off an explosive chain of events. Her employer Alix, a feminist blogger with the best of intentions, resolves to make things right.

Quite easily the best narration I have listened to. Nicole Lewis is genius. A great listen.

I am a hard copy reader, this was my first audio book, but i loved it. Laughed out loud many times. I liked the story & characters!

This book gets a big old ‘meh’ from me. I wanted to like it, and at times I did. But, mostly, I found the story and what it was trying to achieve (a narrative around white privilege and race) clunky and clumsy.

Meh

I really enjoyed this story. I listened it in its entirety without putting it down. I would have liked added voices, but the narrator did great. Wonder when we will see the movie on Netflix?

The narrator definitely made the story come to life, she added the emotion, the drama, and the humour that the story called for. Would recommend!

Great narrator!

After hearing rave reviews of this book, I found it impossible to put down and raced through it in a day. Absolutely loved it!

This took so long to get going/ kept hoping it would improve but now realise there are hours of my life I will never get back.
Themes were promising but it’s juvenile and a boring listen.

Why did I waste my time?

I had to google the author and check if she was black because the way the black characters were portrayed left me with serious questions. I felt like this book was written FOR an audience of non-colour. We did it for a book club but never again!

Really not great
