The story is fine--great setting, light, mildly entertaining, the kind of thing I can listen to while doing something else. I've listened to other books by this narrator, and they were fine, but this one most definitely is not. The main character's voice is well done, though the expression was often overly dramatic. Some of the other characters blend together, though, and, even worse, the exaggerated intonations are really AWFUL! I'm at 3 hours in and don't know if I can finish it. The main character's mother, her sister and her boss are indistinguishable and were so exaggerated. No one speaks that way! The worst. Can't imagine what Laura Kirman was thinking with this one.

The narrator....again!

This was an easy to listen to story with pleasant characters and a predictable story line but the narrator was just awful. The voices of the female characters were indistinguishable and the voices of the male characters sounded to me like very old women.

Enjoyed the story but not the narrator.

I loved this story! It has come as such a breath of fresh air to experience a story WITHOUT an insipid, whiny, weak, mellow dramatic, overreactive main character. Clara, I feel, was a very relatable character. The decisions she made were generally well thought through. She’s been written as a “normal” business woman who might freak out in her head, but moves in logic instead of emotion (most of the time 😊 we are all human and that trope plays well in this book).

Each of the characters are well developed and the story is a good ride. Everything unfolds at a comfortable pace. I never felt like ok hurry upppp! Get to the point! I enjoyed every step of the journey. I only had one cringe moment (I won’t spoil it) but it was quickly reconciled. There is just the right amount of suspense, humor, romance, and overall fun in this book.

Now the narrator…I could listen to this woman read ingredients on a can of creamed corn and be intrigued. She has a wonderful voice that is smooth and very slightly raspy at times…but in a pretty way. Great pace and great inflections. I loved her performance!

LOVE IT!
