About this listen

The true story of a man's courageous decision to join the resistance group in the fight against the Nazi regime in occupied Denmark during WWII. After being captured by the Germans, he would have to endure two of the most gruesome Concentration Camps until a Scandinavian rescue mission eventually helped bring him, and thousands of other prisoners, back home. This story was written by the main character's granddaughter.

This is an absolutely breathtaking family history story about total courage against evil. I recommend everyone hear this well written account of the horrors of war and war crimes. With today’s conflicts, it’s inspiring to learn of the bravery and resilience of past generations. Cheers to Charlotte Bjornbak for sharing this.

This audiobook is a memorable story and beautifully written. I loved the details of this event and the fact that it's written by the main character's own granddaughter is a nice and different touch. I was able to "relive" a devastating part of human history. Even though there are many other stories out there about WWII and the nazi death camps, this one is a different perspective from someone who lived through the horror and provides some shockingly new historical details I didn't know about.

A memorable book

For a short(er) story, it makes for a very emotional, entertaining listen. The narration was great. It’s a perfect story that provides some insight into the tragedies that happened during the war.

A very real and touching story
