About this listen

Boston Homicide Detective Reid Sylver closes every case that comes her way. Her secret? She can talk to the dead.

Reid’s perfect record has earned her the freedom to work with the only partner she can tolerate: a scarred one-eyed mastiff called Mugshot. Then the new boss saddles her with rookie London Gold. How will she keep her gift a secret with this ambitious rookie underfoot?

London Gold has dreamed of being a homicide detective since long before she became a cop. Now she has a chance to learn from the woman she’s idolized for years. Breaking through the detective’s tough shell won’t be easy, but she’s determined to learn the secret behind Reid's success.

Both women are surprised by their chemistry as they work feverishly to find a tech-savvy killer who stalks his victims from afar. Just one problem: The killer's now stalking them.

I enjoyed it but…

I just listened to both books in the series. This 1st book was definitely better. The reason I like the lesbian romance cop is because I get to listen to a beautiful romance and get to use my own logic along with the story to try and figure out who the killer is/how to stop them. This book did still keep me entertained throughout however there were a few holes in the cop logic/thinking process. Like yes there is some give with Sylver having her abilities but the rest of the cop logic should have still made some logical sense as to how they got there. For example there’s a part where without help from a spirit London and Sylver are brainstorming about the killers reason for the killing, they come up with 1 reasons out of thin air and just run with it all the way throughout. I did enjoy how involved Mug, the dog was in the story. Also when they finally are in the middle of getting the killer, Sylver is in danger there alone and when the rest of the cops arrived as back up London was told to stay out of it and she listens, so she literally just stayed outside while all the other cops were in all the action. This book in the series was entertaining enough that even with these holes it was worth the listen. Can’t say the same thing for the 2nd book, I’m leaving a review there next. The narrator was ok but she kind of read every since sentence in the book like it was a thrilling action scene and it was a little bit annoying especially in the emotional parts.

I liked

I enjoyed it. I just wished they got more into her Parents and what they had to say about
what happened to Gold.

I actually cried at the end

I was shocked to have tears running down my face at the end. Books rarely take me there. It is well written and well read.

Arrested Ghost

A fun satire of how to tell secrets and be a detective. A wrongs doings and a very sadistic bad guy keeps them busy. A lovable ugly dog and the best friend that never was. A great story.

I really liked this book but....

I have wanted to read this for a while now. Cop romance books are a favorite. The story is different and that can be hard to find now a-days. Gold was a not trusting, closed up woman who the narrator tried to come off tough but never really sold it. Wish she did. The he said...she said after a statement I feel
wasn't necessary. Your reading it...you know who is speaking. The flow was off. It didn't leave me sighing with jealousy about there relationship like others but there could be a sequel possibility. But with the right flow please. Glad I read it.

Enjoyed it!

This was a very enjoyable book. Love Mug Shot. Love Sylver and Gold. Fun humor. Trigger Alert: don’t read if not a fan of gory murder stuff or if triggered by graphic descriptions of past childhood abuse. I really hope there is a sequel! These are characters I would like to follow.

Loved the story

I truly loved this story. I know it was left where it could end on its own or maybe continue on. Just wondering if Reid will ever find a way to forgive her grandmother.
