About this listen
Born on June 4, 1873, in Muscatine, Iowa, Charles Fox Parham was no ordinary man. After experiencing a miraculous healing, he embarked on his evangelistic ministry in 1891, guided by an unwavering faith and an indomitable spirit.
In 1898, he established a healing home in Topeka that became the birthplace of a remarkable spiritual phenomenon: the baptism in the Holy Spirit, accompanied by speaking in tongues, first experienced on the dawn of the 20th century, January 1st, 1901.
Parham's journey didn't stop there. He continued to witness extraordinary manifestations of divine power, particularly in Galena, Texas, in 1903. Here, the blind regained sight, the lame walked, and the deaf heard, while diseases of all kinds were miraculously healed, leading to an overwhelming wave of salvation.
Parham's legacy extended beyond his direct ministry when he founded the Houston Bible School. From this institution, William J. Seymour graduated, a man who would later become instrumental in igniting the Azusa Street Revival that marked a watershed moment in Pentecostal history.
"THE VOICE OF ONE CRYING IN THE WILDERNESS" is more than just a biography—it's a riveting exploration of the life of a man whose faith reshaped the spiritual landscape. Traverse through the 452 pages of this book and emerge with a newfound understanding of a truly apostolic pioneer who challenged the status quo and spurred a global spiritual awakening.
