About this listen
Donald Trump and evangelicals don't go together or do they? 81% of evangelical Christians voted for Donald Trump. Trump has lied over 30,000 times yet evangelicals don't seem to care. “Trump Lies and Evangelical Christians” shows that Trump is the antithesis of everything evangelical Christians believe in yet they are his base supporters. Does voting for Donald Trump and supporting him make one “unholy”? The right knowledge of Sin, Sanctification, and Holiness is critical because “Without holiness, no man shall see the LORD.” (Heb 12:14) Supporting Trump shows the HYPOCRISY of the White Christian Nationalist supremacy and has caused loss of moral and ethical authority. A call to repentance is in order.
Millions of conservative Christians have made America their kingdom and love of country has given away to right-wing Christian Nationalism. The desire to bring in an earthly kingdom rather than the kingdom of God has made them accept the anti-Christian tactics of Donald Trump. Ours is the age of authoritarian rulers who evade accountability while robbing their people of truth. They promise law and order then legitimize lawbreaking to use propaganda, corruption and violence to stay in power. Donald Trump and his relentless misinformation shows how authoritarian rule is marked by destructive chaos.
The crisis of Christianity has become a crisis for democracy. What happens to democracy if Christianity is no longer able to perform the functions on which our constitutional republic depends? Integrity, truth, and justice all matter. Moral and ethical authority matter.
Jason Stanley’s book, How Fascism Works, states very nicely the danger America faces with Donald Trump: “ There is immense danger of underestimating the cumulative power of:
- exploiting a mythic version of a nation’s past
- using propaganda that twists the language of democratic ideals against themselves
- directing anti-intellectualism against universities and experts
- claiming law and order politics predicated on the assumption that members of minority groups
are criminals
- and fierce attacks on labor groups and welfare,
These mechanisms all build on one another, creating and reinforcing divisions and shaping a society vulnerable to the appeals of authoritarian leadership.”
