About this listen

Tales from the Angels Dugout is a humorous and fascinating look at the lighter side of 41 years of frustration, followed by the excitement of 2002. Author Steve Bisheff reminds us of those colorful days with original owner Gene Autry and the struggles under the ownership of Walt Disney Co., as well as the curses, hexes, and tragedies that haunted the Angels for so long. Tales from the Anaheim Angels Dugout is just what Angels fans have been waiting for!

Editorial reviews

Steve Bisheff provides a thorough history of that other baseball team in Southern California, from the early days of Gene Autry, the turbulent ownership of the Walt Disney Company, its various name and location changes (are they from L.A. or Orange County?!), and their lone World Series victory in 2002. David Heath gives an amiable performance, bringing a lightheartedness to the strange, frustrating, and inspiring moments in Angels lore. Culminating with a thrilling game-by-game recollection of their World Series triumph, Tales from the Angels Dugout is wide-ranging, quirky, and complete look at the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, California.

Limited

Although the angels haven’t had a ton of success in their history, this book focused too much on what was then their most recent team, the 2002 World Series champion winners, and those players. It did not talk near enough about players from their recent past like Nolan Ryan Rod Carew etc.
