Publisher's summary
In a decimated world, setting foot outside of Tallas is certain death ~ or so they say. Mutations caused by those in the wilderness have plagued citizens ~ or so they say. For Doogan and Keeyla their belief in a Free Tallas has lost its glimmer. When their son, Fabal is given a dangerous assignment, they risk everything to protect him. Fleeing Tallas, they head for the wilderness. But they're ambushed by cruel Mediators, Doogan is recaptured, and while Keelya and Fabal escape, she is severely injured. Can the two of them survive in the wilderness? Will Doogan get away from the clutches of the Mediators? And are the legends about terrible monsters beyond Tallas true?

Interesting story
I received a free copy to listen to; the review is honest. The story was I interesting and the pace was excellent. Similar to a Lite novel. The future becomes populated with mutants, fanciful creatures and a dictator. Suitable for all ages and not too graphic or explicit. I did feel that the reader was best at female and children's voices. The reader struggled with masculine parts. Overall a good use of my time. I enjoyed the audiobook.

Great Dystopian Fantasy
I was entertained by this story. This was my first experience with this author, and it won't be my last. I admired the worldbuilding and the unusual inhabitants of the place. I liked the characters who struggled against the bureaucracy. I was amazed by the twists and turns. I got so wrapped up in the events that I had a hard time dragging myself away from the story as it unfolded. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. I enjoyed Sarah Grace's narration as her performance enhanced the story's entertainment. I was given a copy of the audiobook. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions regarding this story.
