Publisher's summary

When 16-year-old Travis is sent to stay with his uncle on a ranch in the country, he knows it's his last chance to avoid jail. His abusive stepfather thinks he's a hood. Even his uncle has doubts about Travis - but the truth is that Travis isn't as cold and tough as everyone thinks. He's written a novel and sent it off to a New York publisher. Someday he'd like to write like F. Scott Fitzgerald, but right now he just writes about what he knows - guys just like him, who are always on the edge, ready to explode.

Real characters

The characters seem real to me, which is not that way in many books. I didn’t think I would like the narrator when I first listened, but I was wrong. She is good.

The Narration is Terrible

The narration interfered with enjoying and getting a good hold on the story. Listened to it on 1.2 speed and still in areas she spoke too slowly. Voice is mostly monotone. The sound production was terrible too. Sound wavered and often could hear narrator breathing in. Very distracting.

I really enjoyed the Outsiders. In this book also author gives us a good look into the thoughts and feelings of a teen who is struggling to find himself.
