Tandem Cottage is an engaging, contemporary, faith-filled romance that completely drew me in. Set on Mackinac Island, this lovely place comes alive in this story. The beautiful second chance romance that develops from two single parents struggling to keep their lives afloat touched my heart & had me eagerly turning the pages.

Alyssa’s a very young single mom struggling to support herself & her son Sammy who has Asperger’s. Though the circumstances that caused her to become pregnant at the tender age of 16 were traumatic, she’s never regretted her son. Now 25, she’s just graduated with a computer science degree & is desperately searching for an internship that’s required for the job she wants. She’s also troubled when she’s contacted by her son’s estranged father who’s now married & wants summer visitation rights. Desperate for any kind of job & solution, she takes a position as a nanny to a baby girl for a successful, fellow computer scientist.

After tragically losing his wife, Carter’s struggling to care for his small daughter. His desperation leads him to seek a nanny. When he meets Alyssa, he’s immediately charmed by the easy way she cares for & interacts with his daughter. With their close proximity, he finds himself easily falling for her. But, they’re both keeping secrets close, can they open up to each other & risk a second chance at love?

I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Alyssa, Carter, Sammy, & all the delightful residents of Mackinac Island. The author deals with some weighty subjects in this story, but does so with great sensitivity & care. I enjoyed seeing these two lovely people find love. I always love a good nanny/employer trope, & this one was definitely swoon worthy.

I also enjoyed the role faith played in the story. Beyond Carter & Alyssa, there are other issues & people deftly woven into the story who need forgiveness, healing, & strength. I enjoyed seeing how all these characters related to each other & the happily ever after that ensued.

I listened to a computer generated narration on Audible. The narration was definitely a step up from having my phone read to me, but lacked the emotion of a real narrator. I enjoyed it, but missed the intonation & emotions from a human performance.

Definitely recommend to Christian contemporary romance fans. Looking forward to more from this author. I received an advanced copy from the author, but also purchased a copy through Kindle Unlimited. All opinions are my own & provided voluntarily.

Enjoyable story with computer narration.
