From award-winning actor and food obsessive Stanley Tucci comes an intimate and charming memoir of life in and out of the kitchen.

Before Stanley Tucci became a household name with The Devil Wears Prada, The Hunger Games and the perfect Negroni, he grew up in an Italian American family that spent every night around the table. He shared the magic of those meals with us in The Tucci Cookbook and The Tucci Table, and now he takes us beyond the recipes and into the stories behind them.

Taste is a reflection on the intersection of food and life, filled with anecdotes about growing up in Westchester, New York, preparing for and filming the foodie films Big Night and Julie & Julia, falling in love over dinner and teaming up with his wife to create conversation-starting meals for their children. Each morsel of this gastronomic journey through good times and bad, five-star meals and burnt dishes, is as heartfelt and delicious as the last.

Written with Stanley's signature wry humour and nostalgia, Taste is a heartwarming story that will be irresistible for anyone who knows the power of a home-cooked meal.

Stanley Gucci’s autobiographical love letter to La Dolce Vita overflows with warmth and a soul-deep passion for the many and varied pleasures of the table.
A must-listen for experienced foodies and aspirant epicureans alike. A feel-good antidote to these uncertain times, the heady cocktail of Tucci’s agile prose and characteristic dry humour make every chapter a delight. Highly recommended!

Simply Delicious!

Articulate, funny, informative, intriguing, open, honest, personal and again funny. A simply wonderful book. I hope he writes more. I really do.

Having recently watched Stanley Tucci in his documentary on Italian food, I felt like id like to know more about him. Taste was just the thing. It trips along, as Tucci animatedly recalls one encounter with the delicious after another. He's the ONLY person who could have read this aloud because he's perfect. I loved it.

Relaxing read with some great food inspiration. Delightful as Stanley can be. If you love the actor, you’ll love the book.

Stanley Tucci at his dry best.

Stanley Tucci has always been one of my favorite actors, but I had no idea previously just how talented he was as a writer and a cook (I should have expected at least the culinary talent, having in mind his Italian ancestry and how utterly natural and food wise he looked as Paul Child.
In short, this is probably in the top 10 books I read or listened to in the last 10 years. Easily one of the best. Great sense of style, elegant prose and a great sense of intelligent humor. And of course, he is an incredible narrator.
The only "drawback" is you can not listen to this book as a background noise (which I often do with a lot of empty fluff chosen specifically because it doesn't occupy my mind while I am doing smth else). You have to sit and listen - it would be a pity to miss even one phrase.

Food for your soul

The reading is quite good, I guess he is an actor after all. The content is beyond sad or boring, it is simply terrible. If you are into glorifying alcohol, prolonged swearing, trivial stories, endless cliches about Italy and Europe as well as outdated 19th century recipes - then this book is for you.

I made it through it
