Lessons I Wish I Knew

As a single parent, I struggled to show my daughter the love and understanding she needed during her teenage years. This led to a strained relationship that took seven years to repair. “Teenagers and Stress” opened my eyes to the challenges teens face, from anxiety to peer pressure, and how parents can better support them. Its listening and resilience insights would have made a difference back then. I highly recommend this book to parents who foster more muscular, empathetic connections with their teens. It’s never too late to grow and heal.

Calming the teenage storm

Bought this audiobook for my daughter after finding her crying over college applications for the third night in a row. The FEARLESS strategy gave us a shared language to talk about her anxiety – now when she's overwhelmed, she actually comes to me instead of hiding in her room. The parent-teen communication chapter helped me understand when to step back and when to lean in. Her whole demeanor has shifted since starting these practices; she's sleeping better and handling her friend group dynamics with more confidence. This book turned out to be the bridge we needed during this challenging phase of her life.

Build a strong family team

This book would be great for a teen or a parent, but the true value shines if you are able to listen to it together as a family. The fact that the guide addresses both sides, being a teenager and being a parent, is awesome. I've worked with teenagers for a few years and the biggest complaint I hear is that their parent's just don't understand what things are actually causing them stress. This book breaks down some of the communication barriers, and puts parents and children back on the same team and same page.

An Empathetic Guide for Teens and Parents

Teenagers and Stress by Jane Kennedy is a standout resource for navigating the challenges of adolescence. As a parent of two teenagers, I was initially skeptical, but this audiobook has exceeded my expectations with its practical and empathetic approach.

Kennedy’s FEARLESS strategy is both simple and effective, helping my teens manage exam stress and balance school, social life, and personal well-being. The focus on improving parent-teen communication has opened up meaningful dialogue in our family, strengthening relationships and fostering a deeper understanding of stress and anxiety.

Caroline Parker’s narration enhances the audiobook’s approachable tone, making it feel like advice from a trusted friend. The sections on building resilience and boosting self-esteem are especially impactful, equipping teens with essential tools to face modern pressures.

This isn’t just a one-time listen; it’s a resource our family revisits regularly for guidance on managing social anxiety, depression, and everyday stress. Whether you’re a parent seeking clarity or a teen navigating life’s complexities, Teenagers and Stress is a must-listen. It’s more than a guide—it’s a roadmap to a calmer, more confident future.
