About this listen

A woman fleeing a horrible fate. A lonely man yearning for love. Brought together by a twist of fate, will they find a Christmas miracle?

After her mother died, Pansy Robbins’ life changed forever. Forced to cater to the whims of her step-sisters, ignored by her step-father, and pitied by the servants and staff, she has no one to turn to. Neither mistress nor maid in their stately Savannah, Georgia home, Pansy lives caught in limbo. When an unwanted engagement is arranged for her, Pansy escapes Savannah to find a new home in Colorado. But when she arrives in the town of Hidden Pines, she’s shocked to find her groom has skipped town.

Caleb Mitchell moved to Hidden Pines, Colorado to open his own barbershop and live near his sister Sarah, married to the town doctor. He spends his days surrounded by people, yet he longs for someone to come home to at night. When a client tells him about a mail-order bride whose groom recently fled town, he can’t get the poor woman out of his mind. Braving a winter storm, he doesn’t expect to find a half-frozen Pansy abandoned at the train station. He rushes her to his brother-in-law and is helpless to do anything but watch as the doctor fights to save Pansy’s life.

Will Caleb ask Pansy to stay for Christmas now and for always? Or will he sit by and watch her leave his life forever?

VERY SWEET

A very sweet heartfelt love story. Worth the quick read. And the virtual narrative wasn’t bad, I’ve heard otters that were much worse.

Old fashioned romance

Not my usual type of book but I enjoyed it. While predictable it was still a good listen. Virtual voice (which is not my favorite) was ok. It did not detract from the story.
