Publisher's summary

A continuation of USA Today best-selling author Leonard Goldberg's Daughter of Sherlock Holmes series, The Abduction of Pretty Penny finds Joanna and the Watsons on the tail of an infamous killer.

Joanna and the Watsons are called in by the Whitechapel Playhouse to find Pretty Penny, a lovely, young actress who has gone missing without reason or notice. While on their search, the trio is asked by Scotland Yard to join in the hunt for a vicious murderer whose method resembles that of Jack the Ripper. It soon becomes clear that the Ripper has reemerged after a 28-year absence and is once again murdering young prostitutes in Whitechapel.

Following a line of subtle clues, Joanna quickly reasons that Pretty Penny has been taken capture by the killer. But as Joanna moves closer to learning his true identity, the killer sends her a letter indicating her young son, Johnny, will be the next victim to die. Time is running out, and Joanna has no choice but to devise a most dangerous plan that will bring her face-to-face with the killer. It is the only chance to protect her son and rescue Pretty Penny, and save both from an agonizing death.

The Abduction of Pretty Penny is a wonderful new entry in a series that the Historical Novel Society calls “one of the best Sherlock Holmes series since Laurie R. King’s Mary Russell books".

IStands Tall Among the Best

This author's writing is a favorite past time and leisure activity for me. I found him by accident, but he is one of the best discoveries that I have made. The first title in this series was a gift but I was so captivated by the story and his style, that I broke my own rule and started buying the other books in the series.
For me, this audiobook excelled in all rating categories. I look forward to listening to more of his work and I would gladly recommend it to anyone.

I really love this series. Steve West is brilliant

As always, this installment of the Daughter of Sherlock Holmes series does not disappoint. I am ever in awe of Steve West's performance because I have no difficulty discerning between all of the characters he does. You never once doubt that there are distinct characters with their own distinct voices and you easily forget that one man is performing them all. Bravo!

The mystery begins with a kidnapping and ends with the discovery and demise object the ripper. There are some very personal plot lines that Joanna must deal with that add a touch more personality and emotion to a character that heretofore has been analytical to a fault. It humanizes her and I really enjoyed it. Five stars highly recommended.

A Good Installment

If you like this series, you will like this installment. An interesting story with a few twists and turns. Very typical of the other books in the series. I am a fan of Sherlock Holmes based stories, and the series staring his daughter does not disappoint.

Intriguing listen

I enjoyed this book and the spin on Jack the Ripper. I like when her son gets involved as well, it shows the daughter of Sherlock Holmes has emotion unlike her father.
