About this listen

Carlyle is a heavenly being who works as an agreement facilitator in the time outside of time. Here human beings are allowed to read the scrolls of their lives prior to their births. His first clients Julia and Nellie Jolicoeur – twins destined to be born on the cusp of the millennium in New York City - readily agree to their scrolls. When Carlyle is given the opportunity to read them, he is shocked. Who would agree to such things? And why would the Designer require it of them?

In answer to his questions Carlyle is sent down to earth to observe the twins live out their scrolls. This will take him into the workings of imperfect families, through the trauma of 9/11, across the United States and into the depths of human trafficking. He will experience Julia and Nellie’s losses, loves, traumas and triumphs as they grow from infants to children to young women and beyond.

The Agreements is an unforgettable saga stretching across eternity and dipping into time to explore the divinely breathed depth of the human spirit and the unfathomable intricacies of our connections to one another and to God.

I liked how the author gave a glimpse of possible thoughts of predestination. Not sure if any of it is backed up by the Bible, though I once heard the Torah has taught on this. God knows us from the beginning to the end. Does that mean that we have a choice before we get to heaven or choice when we come to earth? I like it when the story ends well and it keeps me captivated.

Interesting and captivating
