About this listen

"Are you stalking me?”

"We live right next door to each other, New Girl.”

Bay Bishop aka The New Girl is my new neighbor. Glasses, stage crew black clothes, and a knack for fading into the background.

She’s probably the only one who rolls her eyes when I walk past instead of cheering on my last touchdown play. But before I can shove her into the recesses of my mind filed under “Not my problem”, she lands herself smack dab in the middle of my dreams.

I catch her singing with a voice unlike any I’ve heard before that taps into feelings I shouldn’t have for the girl who avoids me at all costs. I need to know why she hates me.

With three months until graduation, the final play is on. Only it’s not for more points. It’s for Bay.

Unlike my success on the field, this win is anything but assured. But I can’t stop myself from taking the risk.

There’s no flashing scoreboard.

There’s no cheering crowd.

There’s only her and me.

The countdown clock is ticking. The only thing scarier about finding my first love will be losing her.

The Art of Falling for You is the first book in the new Fulton U universe sports romance, Falling trilogy.

Falling Trilogy

The Art of Falling for You ( Falling Trilogy Book 1) I actually didn't read the synopsis before listening to this audiio as I read a couple of Maya's books and enjoyed her writing style so I didn’t need to read the synopsis. I fell in love with Bay and Dare's personalities. I just want to be best friends with Bay. Her character was so compelling and her personality is amazing. My heart broke deeply for her. I absolutely adored Dare too and he had me crying too. I absolutely loved the style of writing and how it begins in the present moment and then goes back to the past and then brings us back to the present with a cliffhanger that will leave you breathless and waiting. Such amazing characters and fabulous lovestory.

Tim Paige, Emma Wilder dual narration was perfect. Emma Wilder's performance of Bay was one of my favorites. I felt like she was Bay and she was telling her own story. Her inflection is sweet and she brought her A Game with her emotions. Tim Paige's tonality brought Dare's character to reality. I loved both performances. I didn't want it to end and I'm exuberantly waiting for the next audio in this trilogy.

Fantastic beginning to the trilogy

The first book in this trilogy gives us the foundation of Dare and Bay. The true question, and it looks like the answer is no, is whether young love can last. A perfect mix of teenage angst and hope for the future.

Dare is the big man on campus, star football player and doesn’t even know who the ‘new’ girl is. Until he hears her singing and then he can’t stop thinking about her. From the outside he appears to have it all, but no one knows what his home life is like.

Bay doesn’t want anything to do with Dare, until she can no longer deny the connection. She is dealing with the loss of her dad. She brings out the best in him and he her. Knowing this is a trilogy there is a cliff hanger, and I wish I didn’t have to wait. The last few chapters were surprising and my heart broke for each character. I can’t wait to see how their story continues.

Tim Paige and Emma Wilder did a wonderful job of bringing Bay and Dare to life. I can’t wait to see/hear them bring the characters to life in the next two installments. Fantastic jobs.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest, voluntary review.

Will give your heart a long, hard workout

Let me start by saying two things. Bay and Dare are going to give your heart a workout and you are going to have to put in some time here. All together, I loved this book and thought it was a solid start to this new trilogy. From the present we rewind for a slow burning look into the character's past and the beginning to their relationship. This did a wonderful job of introducing you to the characters, truly getting to know them and letting you become firmly invested in their romance. There is an abundance of feels to be had as we learn what makes these character's tick. I found both characters very easy to like (I personally felt a stronger connection to Dare.) and they each tugged at my heartstrings. Of course, you are very well aware that something is going to throw a major wrench into the mix, but the actual what is going to keep you anxious and guessing. In the end my heart broke right alongside theirs as book one drew to a close. I really can't wait to get my hands on book two so that I can read more of this emotionally moving romance. Dual narration here, which always makes me happy. I found both voices pleasing, felt they fit the characters nicely and their performances were excellent.

I NEED book 2 Now!!!

I'm not usually into books that flashback to high-school.  However, I DEVOURED this audiobook in a day! I couldn't stop myself. There's something so all-consuming when you bring together a popular football player and the new girl/theater geek. Bay isn't really the new girl since she's been at the school for 3 years but that's her name at the school. I loved Bay really quick. She's sweet and caring. She's funny and loyal. Her situation made me cry (let's just say I can relate to losing someone I love too so this hit me). Dare was slightly harder to fall for, only because of the stereotype. Once you get to know the him, you see why he is the way he is. I FELT for this boy too. They both captured my heart separately but together, these two consumed my day (I still can't stop thinking about them).

I might have checked Audible twice since finishing, hoping the next audiobook released early because I AM DYING for what happens next. They way the story ended has me all TWISTED UP and in KNOTTS!!! I'm seriously a mess over them and need to know what happens next because Dare, oh Dare, he crossed a line and I'm struggling to see how this is forgivable.  Anyways, I could ramble on way too long about these two... the narration was FLAWLESS. Tim Paige excelled at giving us a strong high school football player.  He was able to tap into Dare's strong demeanor but I also felt that softness coming through. Emma Wilder NAILED Bay's personality.  She came off so caring and a bit blocked but her walls crumbled and I loved hearing a lightness in Wilder's voice.

My new favorite Maya Hughes story

Exquisitely told, with soul deep and heart shattering emotions, beautifully broken characters with bottomless depth and layers, an overflowing amount of angst and a gripping plot that sucks you in and keeps you captivated - The Art of Falling for You is just plain wonderful.
It cracked my chest open, took hold of my heart and made me FEEL so much, I'm not even mad about it. I just need more.
Strap on your helmet, hold on tight and get ready for the ride of your life, this trilogy is bound to be epic.

The narration itself was perfection.
Tim Paige and Emma Wilder bring all the feels to this story. Expertly bringing these characters to life, the narration is so full of emotions. The chemistry between the narrators is evident as the story progresses and it perfectly encapsulates the feeling of the real struggle these two were going through, cast perfectly, this is an amazing listen.

4 sweet stars ⭐️

The Art of Falling For You is the first book in the Falling series. This was bittersweet read, slow burn and Full of intense emotions. Dare and Bay take you on a sweet ride with their love story.

Dare struggles with what life has hand him. Just hoping a collage will pick him up so he can leave his home town. Bay struggling with the loss of her Dad. Which leads them both finding comfort in each other.

Overall I enjoyed this book and I’m definitely looking forward to reading The Sin of Kissing You.

Audiobook Review: Emma Wilder is always a pleasure to listen to, but this was my first time listening to Tim Paige and I enjoyed his narrating very much. 5 stars ⭐️ to both of them!

I want to cry. This book had me up in my feels the first time I read it but listening to Tim Paige and Emma Wilder. Ahh! It is so heartfelt, with great narrators bringing the characters to life. Dare and Bay will never not sound like Tim and Emma. This is sooo good!!

4 Stars!!

Having picked up the Falling Trilogy when it released this year I've been wanting to get back into it. As soon as this audiobook was announced I knew I had to listen to it! I started listening to it as soon as i could and got back into this world. I enjoyed this listen so much!

Being new to both Tim Paige and Emma Wilder's narration I've been so excited to listen to both of them in this audiobook! These two were great as Dare and Bay! I really enjoyed what both of them brought to this story with their narration and how they captured emotions.

This first book in Bay and Dare's journey got my attention once again and didn't let go! I really liked getting into both characters minds and getting to dig deeper with them. I felt so many things with both characters throughout!

With The Art of Falling For You, Ms.Hughes has created a good story that will have you looking forward to more! I can't wait to listen to more of both Tim and Emma's narration in the second installment in this trilogy, The Sin of Kissing You!

Wrong narrator

The female narrator was annoying, way to mature and sad sounding for a teenager. I liked the story but should've used another female voice
