5 out of 3000

I have over 3000 audiobooks in two accounts - and have listened to them all - even when I should have stopped. The Art of Racing in the Rain is without question one of the five best.

5 Stars for Far-Exceeding My Expectations!

A book with the POV from a dog? Uh, no. . . I said, passing this one by several times. But one reviewer, a non-dog owner like me, recited its merits and so I took the leap.

WOW!!!!! What a great story and narration! Very poignant, well written and performed. I don't want to give the story line away, but it has substance and content that will leave you thinking well after the last words are heard.

And yes, the POV by a dog is a powerful means to convey this particular story. I loved it!

Jane

Any dog lover would love is book. This has gone to my list of all time favorate books. After I finished it I listened to it again. I have never done this before. The dog narator was totally believable. The story twisted and turned and never lost a beat. Nascar fans would also enjoy this book as there is a lot of reference to racing in it. Bravo

9 out of 10

I don't particularly like dogs and I am not interested in race cars. That having been said, I found this book very enjoyable. Enzo as philosopher was done well. This was a device that could have disintergrated into comedy, but did not. The blending of the philosophy of life with the philosophy of racing skill/art worked well. This is a novel that appeals because it is a novel about love...not a novel about dogs or racing. If I had to rate this novel, I would give it a 9 out of 10.

This is a must read for any animal lover/pet owner

I'll never see my four legged kids in quite the same way. Make sure you read it two times, once for the story, once for Enzo's philosophical insights.

What a fabulous story!!!

Any additional comments?

I am SO happy I found this book! It truly touched me. Such a wonderful perspective on our best furry friends. I would not suggest listening to the first 15-20 minutes or the last 30 minutes while out in public. Enzo was a true friend in every way that we hope to be. He listened, was supportive, attentive, caring and loved unconditionally. I don't think I've ever loved a character more!! This is one of those stories that brings tears to my eyes even weeks after reading because it was such a beautiful, well told story about true love and friendship. Highly recommend.

For the dog lover...

Similar to that heart wrenching tug that makes you want to hug your dog immediately found in "Marley and Me", this book takes a little different of a turn as it's fromt he dog's perspective. I will never look at my dog the same after reading this book. It's wonderful!

Stressful and sad.

I believe this is a good story and am curious to see the movie adaptation, but don't begin thinking you will get a light hearted story of any kind. I love dogs, so I was excited to hear a story from a dog's perspective but there was so much grief, loss and stress within the story itself, I found myself fast forwarding through a couple chapters in order to go on with the story. I originally purchased the book as it came highly recommended but if you are considering it, please know how sad and stressful it is over the majority of the story. This book will leave you in tears, not always in a bad way but a good way too.

Cheer, cry and laugh!

Just finished this book for the second time and have been crying for some 15 minutes...
It's beautifully written and gives a very beautiful perspective of a life trough the eyes of a dog.
Do yourself a favor and listen to this book where you're free to cheer, cry and laugh aloud.
Saying more only spoils this beautiful book.
