Publisher's summary

Charlie Rhodes has spent her entire life wondering who she is, why she was abandoned as a child, and what’s behind the magical powers she can wield in the blink of an eye.

She’s finally getting her answers.

Now that she’s been reunited with her birth mother and brother, the search is on for her father. He’s supposed to be somewhere in Boston...but where? He’s fallen out of touch, and finding him is virtually impossible.

Thankfully for Charlie, the Legacy Foundation’s next assignment is in a suburb of the very city where she lives, which means there’s plenty of time to find her father and solve the mystery of a haunted former hospital that’s apparently eating construction workers on a regular basis.

Heavenstone Asylum was considered the height of sophistication in psychiatric circles back in the day. In the years since the facility closed, the main doctor’s legacy has been tarnished by horror stories of treatments gone wrong and disappearing patients.

The second Charlie walks into the building, she recognizes that the past is hardly buried within the walls. There are tortured souls at every turn, and it’s her job to help them.

Heavenstone’s history makes for interesting reading, but the harder Charlie digs, the more horrifying the story. Somehow, she needs to uncover the truth...and survive the ghosts long enough to free them.
It’s going to take everything she’s got to see things through until the end.
All Charlie wants are answers. She’s going to get them. Surviving long enough to do anything with them is another story.

It’s about to be the Legacy Foundation’s finest hour...or is it?

Asylum Aberration

Good story. Jack can really be a jerk. But Charlie loves him. Loved the story, but not the ending. I hope the next story will come out soon.

Interesting

The story grows and grows and twists .... all the relationships are fantastic. Should be interesting to see where it goes.

good job

First, I always seem to enjoy the Winchester's more when they show up in other books. I don't really care for the narrator in their books. Second, even though the pattern is the same as the other books by this author, I like the relationship between Jack and Charlie. Jack basically gives in to her and she isn't as whiny as some of the others.

Loved It

I came to this series late. But, now that I'm all caught up, I can't wait for the next book to see what happens to these characters.

wow

This book was pretty intense. Lots happening. We get some answers and a while lot more questions. Charlie is struggling with her role within the family. Laura is a huge problem as always, but she is getting worse. Jack is perfect book boyfriend material. I am also coming around to Casey. We get to have hilarious interactions with Bay, Tilly, and Harley. I laughed so hard. Really enjoyed this book. Can't post more without serious spoilers.

My 2nd or 3rd Listen

I like Charlie’s seeies and appreciate that it has gotten darker. This one is a huge deal for the next books. Good narration.

Didn't care for the content.

Because I listened to this as an audio book the writing was repetitive. The same lines with characters assuring each other or complaining over and over filled half the book. The narrator does a weak job of a man's voice as "Jack". He sounds like a total nerd in the voice she gave him. When the narrator does the female demon' s voice her voice goes so high it gives me a headache. Of all the books this was one of the weakest in story. A woman is missing, but they all go home to bed and then to dinner the next day for a casual chat. Very weak writing indeed.
