Drinks the ABA and Autism Speaks Koolaid

I am looking for a good book to recommend to parents with newly diagnosed autistic children. I had high hopes for this book because most of its content is right on. Unfortunately, that makes its sins that much more grievous. This book talks about ABA as a treatment for autistic behavior as if it were on a par with speech therapy and other appropriate interventions, ABA is legalized child abuse, and it is a deal breaker for this book to treat it as if it were an option parents should consider. Likewise, it lists Autism Speaks as a valuable resource for parents. Autism Speaks is a hate organization and no legitimate autism resource should list it as a place parents can go to get information. It is most important that parents who are new to autism and don't have enough information to make independent judgements not be pointed towards the snake oil salesmen that prey on newbies in this space.
