Publisher's summary

Turns out that The Bitch In the House was only half the story. Daniel Jones, husband of Cathi Hanauer, has rallied the men for the "literary equivalent of The Full Monty," in which a group of thoughtful, passionate, and often hilarious men lay it bare when it comes to their wives and girlfriends, their hopes and fears. Many of these husbands and fathers contemplate aspects of their personal lives they've never before revealed, kicking open the door on their marriages and sex lives, their fathering and domestic conflicts, their most intimate relationships and situations.

Despite more power and choices than ever before, women are still angry. In this collection, women speak boldly and passionately about choices they've made (about sex, children, love, and work) and explore what's working and what is not. As celebratory as they are critical, these brilliant essays reflect the truth about life.

Powerful, heartfelt and irreverent, this is a bold, unprecedented glimpse into the glaring truths of modern relationships.

Has good parts but not interesting overall

The authors really build up the book in the preface but, unfortunately, they are in love with their creation and love is blind. There were only a couple of stories I got into and understood the points that the authors were trying to get across. The rest of the essays failed to engage me or convey any sort of emotion or idea. They were the sort of stories you hear on the subway and wish you had headphones to block out the annoying voices talking about things only their mothers and no one else would be interested in hearing.

OK, but lacks meaning

This is a collection of very well written essays by sharp and talented writers who have a beautiful ability to say nothing. I was entertained while listening to this recording, but when I ask myself, What am I getting out of this? I have to say Nothing! In the end, these essays do not help me in any way to live a better life. They do not shed any unique insight in marriage and family living. They are not exceptionally funny or rewarding essays. These are stories of peoples lives that are just as messed up, unhappy and unfulfilled as anyone else on the planet.
