About this listen

On the 29th of June, 2008, Bernie Madoff was sentenced to 150 years in prison. His crime was running the biggest-ever fraudulent scheme in US history, and probably in the history of the world. The prosecutors estimated that Madoff had committed a fraud worth $64.8 billion.

Madoff was a well-respected financier, and this is why investors believed him when he promised consistent profits in return of their savings. Furthermore, he continued to fool his investors, more than 4,800 clients, for a period of over a decade.

So, who was Bernie Madoff? What is a Ponzi scheme? How did Bernie manage to run this fraudulent scheme for such a long time? How was he caught? Find out all about this and much more right here in this book.

Disappointed ...

What disappointed you about The Bernie Madoff Ponzi Scheme?

Bought it starting a four-hour drive and thought there would be some meat and substance to it. Was done less than 30 miles down the road, Other than learning his two sons were both dead hardly learned anything hadn't read before.

What was most disappointing about J.D. Rockefeller’s story?

Too superficial. Like a Cliff Notes, which is fine but not for having paid $4.

Liked the Narrator; not the story

The story was shorter than I expected. It lacked substance and the ability to engage you into Bernie's history. It could be that Mr. Madoff is just not that interesting. I liked the Narrator. The author did well at explaining a Ponzi scheme; would just like to see a longer story with more investigate journalism or an angle to explain his temperment (what led him to believe he was entitled to all that false wealth and persona) . Human nature and greed can be facinating even if the person isn't.

Go read Wikipedia

This Bernie Madoff “book” sounded like someone reading off his Wikipedia article and was just as helpful. I have read better and more engaging high school papers.
