About this listen
In an age where society is becoming increasingly aware of the power of words and their profound influence on our brains and self-concept, the importance of nurturing our self-worth and self-esteem has never been more paramount.
This is especially true for children. Growing up in a world where we are constantly reminded of our color, Black kids face challenges that their peers might not always understand. Systemic prejudices that persist can cast shadows on their dreams and aspirations and end up having a negative impact on their self-esteem. So it is imperative to realize the transformative power of positive self-talk and positive affirmations.
This Big Book collection of positive affirmations is a nurturing embrace, a protective shield, and a guiding star seeking to ensure that every Black child listening to it feels seen, heard, and loved. The affirmations are carefully crafted, not just as repetitive statements but as statements of strength, each one aiming to fortify the self-esteem of the listener.

Let's face it: black children face a lot of noise about their future. They sometimes think their only options are to excel in sports, music, or gangs because they don't have the role models or the acceptance they deserve being celebrated in their daily lives. This two book set played on Alexa in my house for 1 hour a day for a month. I promise you, it changed my children! They started quoting the affirmations as they were watching TV, and talking to their father and me. My son (14, the older of the two kids) even asked what it was, and now has it on his iPod,
I was nervous it might be too corny for my kids, but I was wrong. My 9 and 14 year old both like it. I'm pleasantly surprised that going into those complicated middle and high school years, my kids now have a strong way to reinforce their confidence and their self worth.
