About this listen
A sensational mystery that will keep you listening!
Sheriff Tom Jessup works to keep his county nice and safe. Unfortunately, things aren’t staying that way.
A questionable death in Whitman County takes Jessup out of jurisdiction to Spokane, Washington. He’s following family blood, and it’s led him to a double murder. The Spokane Police Department has their best team on the case, but they’ve just hit a roadblock. This leads them to a man neither trust. He’s a questionably motivated officer who answers only to himself. Meanwhile, Jessup struggles to connect additional cases across county lines.
As the deaths continue to mount, the four investigators race in opposite directions, each hunting a killer in their own way. Will they find him before he strikes again? Or will distance and department politics let a killer escape?
The Blind Trust is the third book in the 509 Crime Stories, a series of novels set in Eastern Washington with revolving lead characters. If you like police procedurals filled with compelling personalities, you’ll love this story.

Story
He’s the new owner of Rockafellers, a vintage record store struggling to find customers. Much of that is due to Headbangers, a competitor with a better product mix and an aggressive owner. There is also a local do-gooder group who wants Owen to fall in line with their vision for a kinder, gentler Costa Buena. None of that worries Owen, though, because he is determined to be the number one used-music store on the boardwalk - even if that means stepping on a few toes. But when a murder occurs shortly after his arrival, he’s identified as prime suspect number one.

Story
Tyler Garrett is a model SWAT officer whose good looks, education, and familial status add to that image. The fact that he is a Black man in the predominately white Spokane Police Department only adds to the city administration's pride in one of their own. One summer evening, Garrett stops a reckless driver. As Garrett dives for cover, the driver turns and begins shooting as well. Garrett survives the ambush by killing the driver and chasing off the additional shooter. The legend of Tyler Garrett grows. Until the initial investigation.

Two little girls stand with their heads bowed in my living room. I’m told they’re my granddaughters. Daisy is nine, and Alice seven. Daisy is the spitting image of her mother. This is the first time I’ve met them since my daughter and I fell out after she married that waste of space, Vince. They’ve come to live with me because their mother — my daughter — was murdered. In her own home while they slept close by. I think Vince killed her. But the police can’t prove it. I’ve always known he was no good. He treated my daughter like dirt. I said he’d cheat on her — but she wouldn’t listen.

My fiancé brought me tea and scrambled eggs in bed that morning, and we snuggled together, talking about buying our rings, and about our perfect wedding next year. Then we headed into town. He held my hand and gazed at the ring I liked best, a smile spreading slowly over his face. Then a glass of bubbly to celebrate. I felt flushed, excited and ready for the rest of my life with the man I loved. We race to get on the train home. It screams to a halt and I run towards its open doors. Made it. I think he’s right behind me — but when I turn around, he’s gone.

Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Excellent story -so many plots
This was masterful planning and execution. There were multiple facets to the story/ mysteries with several old characters and new characters working together simultaneously to find the many pieces to solve this mystery. Quinn, Marci, a little Nash with Sheriff Jessup and Detective Morgan, a man I’m sure we’ll see more of! This was a great mystery!
Damon Abdallah is the best narrator for these books. His timing and voices are great!
