This was my second read of this book. The first time was the Physical book, my second the audio version. I love a good twist at the end and this book did not disappoint. I'm looking forward to the second book by AL Hatcher.

When you don't guess the end of the story by the halfway point I say that's a great book. Only reason I rated it a 4 instead of a 5 is because it could have been longer and built up the characters a little more. However, overall a great book.

I liked this audiobook! The characters were relatable and I could picture them easily in my mind. The story was on par for a mystery but I didn’t see the twist coming.

The narrator reads too fast. You’d think a professional reader would understand punctuation. I actually set the speed to .7 to slow her down.

Not a genre I typically listen to but this was a good read - I would have liked for the main character to figure out more of the mystery herself. The murders were pretty grisly. The narrator did a great job with all of the different characters.

With an exciting and relatable main character, A.L Hatcher has me hooked on her first novel and whatever she publishes in the future. It's a bit shocking a new author delivers such a devastatingly amazing story. The historical aspect puts a refreshing spin on the genre of crime and mystery. It's a very fast read or listen. I was absolutely in love by the end of the first chapter! The plot is more than entertaining and very fun while still keep true to its dark storyline. I recommend to everyone, but true crime lovers, book lovers, and history buffs especially. I am ecstatic for her next to be available on audio!

the most positive thing about this audible book is the narrator. great voice to listen to and easily changed her voice to other characters. very believable.
for the story, It wasn't for me. didn't draw me in. spoilers ahead.

anyone with background in law enforcement, specifically patrol officers and detetectives will cringe at how unrealistic the exchanges are between officers. evidence and clues come too easily. author reveals too much too early. i made 3 predictions early and all were proved correct. 1)Osborne foul character is connected to the case. 2) tess's involvement was a nod to her dad 3) the traumatic event was a gang rape. all of this were evident early on.
so many details were unrealistic. no one writes in a diary in neat, complete sentences and punction in great detail on small things but then glosses over all the rapes. that part would be burned into her brain and would have included THOSE details.
author writes about the grisly details of the murders to distract from what her writing lacks. i would have DNF'd this but continued so i could leave a complete review. i doubt i will read anymore by this author.
