About this listen

Be an instant expert on Life Coaching and Bluff Your Way to respect and reward. No instruction required or received, just a sense of humour. From 'angst' to 'empathy', and from the 'feedback sandwich' to 'setting goals', here's everything you need to know to answer those questions or just question those answers.

Extracts from the book:
Life encroaching
Life coaching on the other hand is not about the past. It works on the assumption that what you make of your life is up to you. Coachees need to take careful note of this, for it is the main term and condition in every life coaching agreement. In short, success is up to the coachee to address here and now, the coachee has the answers, and the coachee needs to make his or her own changes.

The road less travelled
As the Chinese proverb has it (one of many obscure Chinese proverbs that are of considerable value to the life coach, because they only really make sense to the recipient well after the session has ended: 'If you don't change the direction you are travelling in, you are going to arrive at where you're going.'

Discipline disciples
Apostles of life coaching will point out that everybody has something they would like 'fixed', even if it's something that without benefit of alcohol and intimacy, they might not choose to share with the wider world.

Belief relief
Life coaches keep their own beliefs pretty much to themselves. You won't catch a life coach saying, "I believe" very often, unless it's followed by "...I'm seeing you again next Tuesday" or "we've made a lot of progress". They will shy away from anything that to the coachee smacks of a personal conviction or belief, on the grounds that (as any experienced bluffer will remind listeners in world weary tone), it's the coachee's belief that counts.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

This book was not what I expected from the title. There were a number of times that I thought this book was a waste of time and I can see why some might see it that way. After a while, I started to see more value in the book. It is delivered in a rather unusual sarcastic, pessimistic, and comedic way, but this does become entertaining. The author clearly has a lot of insight into Life Coaching, the business of it, and some of the attitudes towards it. The delivery of this information is done in a way I have never experienced before. So hidden in there is valuable information. I am just starting my training to become a Life Coach. I believe listening to this made the benefits of Life Coaching clearer, and help me prepare for dealing with negative attitudes toward Life Coaching.

Poor content, poor presentation, poor narration. Dissapointed in my purchase of this title as there is very little of value offered in this book. This book is neither helpful to a Coach or a Client in understanding the workings, methods, expectations or practice of coaching.

It's seeping with sarcasm in a refreshing and honest way while jam-packed with useful information.

So sassy. So British. Weirdly Brilliant.
