About this listen
I should be dead today. Instead, I am gifted with a life beyond my wildest dreams and have yet taken that for granted. It is my responsibility to pass it on. The future is now.
As I continue to witness the rising amount of suicides, overdoses, and senseless mass shootings in our country, I felt compelled to share my journey to mental wellness. I'm astonished daily that most colleagues in business and beyond are unaware of the incredible amount of free help available to jump on this broken road to mental health. As a sober woman of 25 years, I attribute all of my personal and business success to a 12-step recovery program that I still attend today. I have also previously attempted suicide, and have successfully lived a depression-free life for 24 years. That comes will diligent work on myself, along with the understanding that passing it on is a responsibility, not a choice.
I do not have any clinical background, just straight up practical tips and personal experience. I have applied everything I know from the accountability sobriety offers and daily work required to stay mentally well in business. As a child, I've always wanted to be a therapist. I am happier as just another recovering alcoholic with practical life and business skills. I have never forgotten where I came from in life or in business. Both are required to maintain a level of humility with a lifetime of experience.

Highly recommend!
Great book! Love that it was narrated by the author, it made each story and event shared feel like you were watching it unfold. Very real, open dialog about addiction and recovery. The real life examples shared bring hope and reinforce that recovery, success in life and success in business are all possible when you have, and use, the tools. Highly recommend!

5 Star Review for a 5 Star Person
I highly recommend "The Broken Road to Mental Health: In Life and in Business" by Sharon Fekete. This book is an incredibly powerful and honest account of one woman's journey to overcome mental health challenges and find success in both her personal and professional life. I bought several copies to hand out to my patients.
Sharon's writing is raw and real, and she does an excellent job of conveying the struggles and triumphs she has experienced. Her story is both inspiring and relatable.
The book is also filled with practical advice and insights that can be applied to anyone's life. Sharon's wisdom and experience provide valuable insights into how to navigate the challenges of mental health and find success in both life and business. I highly recommend it to my patients as an educational tool.
Overall, I would give this book a resounding 5 stars. It is a must-read for anyone who has faced mental health challenges or is interested in learning more about the topic. Sharon's story is both powerful and inspiring, and her advice is practical and actionable.
I personally know Sharon and respect her desire to bring awareness to mental health.

Life lessons that smooth the broken road
Through her own real life stories, the author has done a great job of raising awareness of the mental health epidemic that currently afflicts so many members of society from all walks of life. Sharon is helping to break the stigma associated with speaking openly about one’s personal addiction, depression and suicidal ideation. Her journey brings important context to and understanding of the reasons why a person might engage in self-destructive behaviors despite having, on the surface, a great life. She has definitely put in the self-work for recovery. She enlightens the reader with important life lessons that were learned the (very) hard way on the broken road. By applying those lessons both to life in general and to business, the road becomes smoother for the next traveler. This is a timely book as the global COVID pandemic has led to a significant uptick in mental health stress. I highly recommend picking up a copy or listening to the audiobook.

Loved the author’s reading personality
Listening to this book is like sitting down with a trusted friend who is sharing her experience, strength, and hope- with some serious stories, some laughs, and no BS. A great business book and also a great life book- especially since the two seem to be intertwined. An easy read/ listen with a problem/ solution orientation, but again, no BS. We are left to make our own decisions and she gives excellent resources. I highly recommend this book to everyone because I’m not sure any of us, or our families, or co-workers, hasn’t been touched in someway by struggles with mental health, alcohol misuse, or various addictions. There are useful tools for success in this book- and also, a kind, entertaining, and wise author with a great voice. I Highly recommend!

Something in this book for everyone!
Stop wherever you are and buy this audiobook. It is compelling and inclusive in a way that must be heard in the authors voice. Her journey through addiction. Recovery and business is the perfect intersection that we all share. It’s real funny, sad, relevant and important. I listened and gained so much insight into how we can communicate better through this mental health epidemic. How vulnerability is a superpower God leaves signs, and none of us are alone -we have each other, and there is no shame in asking for help whether you, a loved one or colleague is battling with a mental health issue. I have actually listened to it more than once and gained different insights because I now have different experiences. I highly recommend this engaging, raw, relatable book it’s amazing.
