True essence of the Brontë sisters

Absolutely wonderful collection! The casting is en point! I can’t recommend enough. Great production! I love to listen to these while I draw in the evenings.

Loved hearing several character performances.

I love BBC television and movies. so glad to find this type of narrative by multiple characters. I would have given five stars, but I hated the repeated musical introductions.

4 stars!!

Most of the stories in this composition were wonderful and I greatly enjoyed them (I will probably relisten to them again), but the story "Withering Heights" was a tougher story to listen to but the actors did an excellent job reading their parts.

A Must Have for Brontëphiles!

Few authors have my heart the way the 3 Brontë sisters do, I have read all 7 of their novels at least twice and they rank as some of my favorite books of all time (except The Professor, I can see why publishers initially rejected it). Rachel Joyce did an excellent job on her dramatizations and I am thrilled she adapted the lesser known Brontë titles (Agnes Grey, Shirley, Villette) as well as the more popular Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights and The Tenant of Wildfell Hall.

Great introduction to the Brontes

The radio play format provided engaging abridged versions of the novels that made it easy to get exposed to all their work.

Most stories are depressing and/or cruel but...

...performance is fabulous. In every story there is cruelty, abuse, brutality, and meanness so they are rather depressing. Not great stories if you ask me, but I really enjoyed the performances.
