About this listen

New York Times bestselling author Wendy Corsi Staub is the master of psychological suspense. In her latest thriller, an investigative genealogist digs for her own biological roots, well aware that some secrets are better left buried.

Investigative genealogist Amelia Crenshaw solves clients’ genetic puzzles, while hers remains shrouded in mystery. Now she suspects that the key to her birth parents’ identities lies in an unexpected connection to a stranger who’s hired her to find his long-lost daughter. Bracing herself for a shocking truth, Amelia is blindsided by a deadly one.

NYPD Detective Stockton Barnes had walked away from his only child for her own good. He’ll lay down his life to protect her if he and Amelia can find out where—and who—she is. But someone has beat them to it, and she has a lethal score to settle.

Amelia and Stockton’s entangled roots have unearthed a femme fatale whose family tree holds one of history’s most notorious killers. And the apple never falls far…

Loved the Trilogy

Nice how everything tied together over the 3 books. Enjoyed the different time periods. History was an important factor to the story line.

Mostly ties everything up

With so many storylines weaved into three books, Wendy Corsi Staub does a pretty good job of tying everything up in the end with one exception, the angler storyline. With so many characters to keep up with and locations, and in this book, a lot of flashbacks, and time changes it’s possible that I just missed that storyline being fully explained. This was the most difficult series of books to listen to with so many awful things and awful characters weaved into this series. Child abuse, rape, brutal murders, extremely terrible characters, made these books almost too much to listen to. Several times I thought about just stopping. I’ve never had to take a break from any of her books usually I can’t wait to continue this series…I could not wait for them to be over.

Loved this book!

This book is the second book in the Foundling series, and is even better than the first! I love this story. It has everything- love, yearning, turmoil, a wonderful ending, and life-like characters! The narration was really good. As a southerner, it was refreshing to listen to someone who does a good impression of a southern accent!

Excellent writing! The story development was well done, and I was emotionally touched by the last 3 chapters.

No. No. No

I can’t believe I tortured myself listening to the entire book. I’ve loved the Wendy Corsi Staub books I’ve listened to previously but not this one. I restarted it five times hoping it would get better but it didn’t. Who knows; you may like it. I just couldn’t get into it.
