The book still holds 100 years later as one of the best monster horror stories involving religion and cults to this very day.

Of course there can be no denying how beautifully crafted this story is. The performance was clean but seemed rushed at times. A little tension and drama might have been nice.

Classic subject

This isn’t one of my favorites, but I wanted to hear the new versions. The narrator on this is so awful, I could barely get through it. It sounded like a teen reading for class that they hate. The introduction on this was awful as well. Stick to the HP Lovecraft Historical Society for their readings and audio dramas of Lovecraft’s works. They are superb.

Complex Story, Awful Narration

This is an old ominous take that needs an old ominous voice. The reader was clear and capable, but I needed a more foreboding tone.

Good reader but wrong voice.

See the title of my review. I want to like this book as it is considered the cornerstone of cosmic horror, that being said, I don’t think it would be scary even if it wasn’t so racially charged. I found a dent and hard to get through even with an engaging Reader.

Too racist to be scary
