About this listen

Karen and Miles have worked together for years, and as Christmas approaches, they find themselves on the road together, when an epic snowstorm strands them in a seaside lighthouse with an elderly couple, who is willing and able to help this young couple work through the doubts, fear, and heartbreak of the past and to admit to each other what has been clear to everyone around them for years and that is that they are in love.

Miles had been in love before, only to have his heartbroken by the woman that he thought he would marry. Karen, aware of what happened to Miles and how it nearly destroyed him, has become so protective of him that she even protects him from herself. The couple that they are with during the days leading up to Christmas finds a way to teach them the simplest truth of all about love and Christmas, which is to love another is to be vulnerable.

A writer/professor psychologically impaired by a previous attempt at love. A witty, dark-haired beauty who eats everything in sight and never gains weight. What's not to like. A gentle novella, with a first-rate performance.

A heartwarming story that just makes you feel good; made even better by a very enjoyable narration performed by Angela Beyer.

I had such a hard time finishing this book. I bought it because it had a 5 star review. After listening to this, I went back to check the reviews and here were only two reviews. Explains why there were 5 stars… im usually more careful than that. The story was good, but the cheesy narration made it corny. Karen’s voice whined throughout the story. The voices of the older couple in the lighthouse were terrible, especially the old man. It sounded just like a woman trying to talk like a man and failing. I stopped halfway through the book to try and return it, but it’s non-returnable. Since I paid for it, I figured I might as well finish it. I was hoping it would get better, but it didn’t. I’ve been an Audible listener for about 10 years. This is the first time I have really regretted wasting my time on listening. I might give the author another chance, but I definitely won’t be buying any more with this narrator.
