With The Clearing, Southeastern Booksellers Award winner Tim Gautreaux delivers a brutal novel of love, family, and redemption.
Randolph Aldridge travels to a snake-infested Cypress mill in Louisiana to find his brother Byron, a troubled veteran of World War I. Once there, Randolph finds that By is a shell of his former self—and that the murderous cartel controlling the mill’s casino won’t give them any peace.

If you could sum up The Clearing in three words, what would they be?
Keeps you listening. What did you like best about this story?
The author helped develope a story slowly, methodically. The narritor did a terrific job.Which scene was your favorite?
The beginning of the book which was set in France, post WWI.If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Don't know.Any additional comments?
A treasure. I ordered another book- same author- same narrator. One of my faves. Really good.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Fighting, mean spirited people throughout the book. I got weary wondering what calamity would come next. I was ready for the book to end. What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
Better than I expected.Which character – as performed by Henry Strozier – was your favorite?
Actually I had no one favorite over another. It was the reader that kept me listening.Could you see The Clearing being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
Oh, probably, since there is so much violence on TV and in the theatres today. No say in the casting.Angst
