Mistitled, F-bombs galore

It’s too bad there are some helpful passages in this book, but they’re buried within excess prose and a prodigious amount of 12-year-old’s sexist insults, obscenities, and F-bombs. The book calls itself “concise” and a Part 107 “crash course,” of which it is neither. The author wanders off into superfluous language about joining the glorious realm of the aviation world. Fine for an introduction, but about the eighth time you hear it in the first chapter, your eyes roll back in your head and you miss the occasional gem that comes next. He loves to comment about how you’re learning this stuff not just to pass a “f***ing test.” A LOT. The author may be British — the unusual obscenities indicates he may be — but the narrator certainly is. That’s fine, but leads to the non-American rending of passages — “Zed” rather than “Zulu” for “Z” — that can make a difference in US aviation. It has some excellent material, but that has more to do with how to perform and manage situations and less to do with passing Part 107 knowledge exam for certification.
