About this listen

Sometimes love is just around the corner....

With her dreams of being a wedding dress designer suddenly over, Arianna Bell isn't expecting a holly, jolly Christmas. Instead, her heart feels about three sizes too small. That is until her high school sweetheart, Connor Gallagher, returns to town and she finds his mere presence still makes her pulse race. But just when she starts dreaming of kissing under the mistletoe, he announces that he will be her opponent in the upcoming mayoral race....

Hot-shot attorney Connor Gallagher has something to prove. He's tired of playing runner-up to his high-achieving brothers. So when the opportunity to enter the campaign comes up, he takes it. Even if it means running against the only woman he's ever loved.

But with a little help from Harmony Harbor's local matchmakers and a lot of holiday cheer, Connor and Arianna may just get the happy ever after they both deserve.

Critic reviews

"Heartfelt and delightful!"—RaeAnne Thayne, New York Times bestselling author

"[A] delightful return to a small town that I adore. Frankly, I've never met a Debbie Mason story that I didn't enjoy, and this one is no exception. I had fun with Connor and Arianna, cried a bit, laughed out loud and experienced the magic of a small-town Christmas season. If that doesn't equal a great Christmas Romance, then I don't know what does."—KeeperBookshelf.com

"Mason takes her romances to a whole new level with plenty of content to make for a more action-packed romance than just two people falling in love. So again this was another fun trip to Harmony Harbor that I'm sure romance readers will enjoy."—CarriesBookReviews.com

Heart-warming contemporary romance!

Corner of Holly and Ivy is a heart-warming romance appropriate for any season of the year. It is the seventh book in the Harmony Harbor series that revolves around the Gallagher family and Greystone manor, a run down old estate that was turned into a destination hotel decades earlier. The premise of this story is a nice one of lost loves and the "one that got away."

This particular story centers on wedding dress designer Arianna Bell who recently lost everything - her marriage, her design studio, and the use of her hands after being injured in a fire that destroyed her business. What she doesn’t need in her life is one-time boyfriend attorney Connor Gallagher who represented her ex-husband in her divorce. Now penniless, Arianna lives with her grandmother and she is truly a sad piece of work (she hadn’t even submitted a claim to the insurance company for the fire in almost one year). Arianna begins to show some life when her grandmother runs for mayor against Connor's uncle. After a few medical issues are experienced by the political rivals, Connor ends up running against Arianna. The rest of the story is how Connor and Arianna overcome their past differences, regrets, and grief.

We’ve seen this second chance at love theme before in other Harmony Harbor books. In truth this one seemed more repetitive than the others, especially when it is revealed that Arianna’s sorrow runs much deeper than the fire that destroyed her studio.

I listened to the Audible version of this audiobook written by Debbie Mason and narrated by Becket Royce. As she did with other audiobooks in this series, Beckett did an outstanding job providing varying voices for all characters. I love Beckett’s style, which is very natural with smooth overtones and subtle character nuances. In summary, I enjoyed listening to this audiobook and all of the other audiobooks in the series.
