Editorial reviews
Heather O'Neil brilliantly voices Stuart Hill's well-drawn characters and the many races that populate the military fantasy that begins the award-winning Icemark Chronicles. From the young warlock, at once playful and wise, to the willful redheaded warrior he needs to ground as she seeks alliances with vampires, werewolves, and the other creatures of the Land of the Ghosts, O'Neil's rich accent lends a magic, a gravity, and an authenticity to the history of Hill's beautifully realized realm.
The battles are thrilling and dramatically performed in this acclaimed tale of the young queen who must stand against an invading force seeking to eradicate her home - and learn a lot about humanity and courage along the way.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I absolutely would. I read Cry of the Icemark when I was just a kid, i loved it then and I love it now. It's a good old fashion high adventure novel. It has comedy and tragedy, action and just a hint of romance. What did you like best about this story?
I like that the characters are believably flawed. What does Heather O'Neill bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Overall I liked the narration. There were a few character voices that made me cringe, but they weren't main characters. I loved what she did with the werewolves, and I really enjoyed how well she portrait the main character. Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
There were several moments that truly moved me, but I don't want to mention them for fear of spoilers.Any additional comments?
This book is really well done. It shows the violence of a mid evil/roman world in such a way that is moving but not graphic. I read it with my little sister and some of our younger cousins and it started some great thought provoking discussions for them.I would like to note that though this is the beginning of a series and the second two books are not available that is in no way a problem. The book is completely wraps itself up.
