About this listen

Controversial oncologist Dr. Anson Lunt dies in a suspicious plane crash just as one of his researchers develops what appears to be a "magic bullet" against all forms of cancer. Before Lunt's mangled body grows cold, powerful forces are conspiring to seize control of the top-secret cure, either to reap the riches at stake or to suppress the discovery entirely. Industrial espionage, blackmail, and murder are only a few of the ruthless strategies employed in the no-holds-barred battle for the cure.

A gripping tale of cutting-edge medicine and international intrigue, The Cure exposes the dark underside of the modern medical establishment.

The author would have done better to set the story in the 1970s or earlier when the very dated language and attitudes would have been less jarring. The characters are not believable as middle aged scientists from the late 1990s/2000s.

very dated

I just could not get into this book because the reader's fake british accent was obnoxious. It is not a particularly good story (greed) and the characters are uninteresting. Not worth the buy.

Poorly read

I tried very hard to get past the mispronunciations and poorly implemented accents, but couldn't. I tried to just listen to the words. I know that a good reader can add another dimension to a well written book, and can even make a mediocre book, well, enjoyable. But I had no idea how a truly bad reader could ruin a mediocre book.

Poor reading makes this mediocre story unbearable
