About this listen

Ailsa Rae is learning how to live.

She's only a few months past the heart transplant that - just in time - saved her life. Life should be a joyful adventure. But....

Her relationship with her mother is at breaking point, and she wants to find her father. Have her friends left her behind? She's felt so helpless for so long that she's let polls on her blog make her decisions for her. She barely knows where to start on her own.

Then there's Lennox. Her best friend and onetime lover. He was sick too. He didn't make it. And now she's supposed to face all of this without him.

But her new heart is a bold heart.
She just needs to learn to listen to it....

I loved this touching and inspirational novel about a young woman who finally gets the heart transplant she needs to stay alive.
Ailsa is an endearing main character. She has always been different, special and overprotected, due to her congenital heart condition, but after receiving her new heart, she must learn to stand on her own two feet, and it's not as easy as she thought. However she's an optimist and a survivor.
Alice's complex relationship with her mother, her biological, but absent father, her deceased ex-boyfriend, and Seb, her new love interest, are all challenging, yet enriching.
Her blog and interaction with her readers via the polls she posted was a great way to follow her first person train of thought.
Learning to dance tango, which started as a result of a blog poll after her operation, turned out to be a fun, liberating and life changing activity.
The Curious Heart of Ailsa Rae is an unforgettable and uplifting novel.
